As an epilogue to my earlier question re a 125 for my son. My son and his UK Thai girlfriend both rode Honda Clicks when we were in Thailand and so the die was cast as to what they wanted back here. So I scoured Marketplace, Auto Trader and ebay and found that the equivalent scooter here (Honda PCX125) held their value and it was difficult to find one that hadn't been a pizza or Uber eats bike. I found one in Dorking for £1400, 2012, one owner (now 85) with 26,000 miles on the clock. The owner's son was selling it for him as he knows a bit about bikes.
He really does and now I'm going to purchase his 1980 BMW R100RS or part-ex my XT550. He's easy either way. The guy has 20+ motorcycles and at least that in bicycles spread between his garage and two storage units.
He even delivered the scooter to us today, gratis. A proper geezer all round.
So a proper Thai happy ending.

It’s the 2018 F3 800 RC, just 1100 miles. Loving it at the moment

Mainly because I've only done 350 miles in the last year! I love it but it's coming to the end of the PCP deal and I can't justify the ongoing costs.

Totally impulsive purchase, but hey, always wanted one and it doesn't seem to need any work (yet)...
It's ridiculously small and light.

Nice - enjoy! My sister had a couple of NC30s back in the day. Terrific handling and a lovely noise. Screaming them through the back roads in TT fantasy mode was always a good laugh.

Thanks for bike recs the other day, looks like it’s either a Transalp or Himalayan! Will see if any dealers round me have anything available to test ride when the time comes.
In other news, passed my Mod1 this morning! 2 minors for a stall on the emergency stop and 1kph under on the swerve. Just got 18 months of bad habits from the 125 to get rid of before Mod2. -

I know - they are pretty similar though.

I agree others will argue ;)
Basically, 30 has bigger carbs, while rvf had a 17 inch rear wheel.

Congrats! Mod1 is the harder of the two in my opinion. Do you drive? If so you should have no problem with mod 2, there are only a few changes over to bikes

Lovely! I presume it's the 750 ;)

You looking at the 411 or 450 Himmi?
CooperB are the go to place if you are looking to buy a new one.
Just my two pence worth is that the the 411 is a great all rounder. Such a good riding position on them. Great torque, great off road capabilities. Ideal for new and experienced riders alike. Super cheap and easy to work on. I got 90mpg on mine. They lack a bit of top end though so motorways are a bit of a chore and also lack a bit of grunt for a quick overtake on the lanes. A nice used 411 will be £3000.
If you are looking at the newer Transalp I assume they will be around £10grand? They will do everything better apart from general off roading. They cost a lot more though and maintenance and spares will be a lot more expensive. It may possibly be a bike you hold onto longer though. Ideal for longer trips away down to Europe for example.
450 Himmi is a bridge between the two but not necessarily the best of both world.
If it was me I would get the 411 use it for a couple of years and from there you can decide if you want to keep it or then upgrade.

New bike day tomorrow. I am a little bit excited. 😅

Old bike day here today, finally got all the fairing etc back on and secure, managed to stop a load of rattling. Only forgot two bolts as well lol.
Next thing is sort out the cloudy scratched screen, at least until something else comes along and I trade this in.
I'm hankering after a moto guzzi, but they're a bit rich for my pocket....

MOT on the trials bike yesterday. Might actually use it this year if I’m lucky.
Finally took the tube out the Sherco trials rear. It’s a tubeless rear but the OG valve was knackered. Put a tube in a couple months ago but was worried it’d tear the valve off. Damn valve was on the piss after 5 mins gentle riding.
I bought an Apico rim tape with valve bonded on. May as well have just bought and fitted a regular tubeless valve by the looks of it. Didn’t trust the rim as previous owners had electrical tape all over the inside to aide sealing. Hoped the Apico job would give a bit better but not convinced as it still needs a nut on the valve to hold it against the rim.
I don’t have my compressor here so had to borrow the neighbour’s. Was a bit of a struggle but we popped the bead in the end.
Shame it’s the dogshit Pirelli MT ‘trials’ tyres. Gonna have to go through the whole thing again if/when I can afford a set of real tyres like Dunlop or Michelin.

Ha! I wish!
@Chak it has gear driven cams, as far as I'm aware, (and as has been mentioned) there isn't that much difference between the RVF and the VFR. It sounds epic even if it's not that fast, definitely fast enough for me.
@seanmur congrats, I agree that mod2 is easier, even if I managed to stall on pulling out of the test centre! (Still passed).

Awesome! Did you get any fun extras?
Do you use acf 50 spray?

Those RVF's still look SO GOOD! Proper pocket rockets.
Be fine. Better than most.
