I mean it seems illogical but it will depend on the frame I guess. It seems to be the trend on road that wider is testing faster so why not on grav grav?
I presume they were testing with a gravel bike with quite a wide downtube and the wider tyre/wheel combo works better as a system with said wide downtube?
Now if you stick an MTB tyre on a skinny framed road bike and it tests faster then I'm out. No idea (but presumably the same reason - it acts to shield the bits behind it) :)
