  • My eyes now go to the FA cup next weekend, if city beat united we will get in the conference league. Surely there is enough on the line for city to smash united. Beating your rivals to the cup and preventing them from getting european football next season!

Without wanting to tempt fate, I would be well excited to be in that competition. My dad took me and my brother to see us beat Sporting Lokeron 4-0 in the 2001 Intertoto cup, Brilliant couple of days away. Without that small competition, there is no way I would have ever gone there, but a great time was had. Enjoy boring Paris, Dortmund and Milan @villa-ru (takes tongue a bit out of cheek).

  • United fan so I hope City don’t win, obviously. BUT I have very fond memories of being a kid and watching United in the Cupwinners Cup with my dad.

The smaller European competitions and obscure opposition are a magical thing.

  • Exactly, anyone who says otherwise is only jealous.

  • Pretty decent season this year. Title race to the last day even though you could only ever see City winning. Arsenal showing up until the end. Villa were amazing, fingers crossed they take a long term view of what Emery has done there and not boot him out after a poor run next season. Chelsea did pretty much what I expected them to do albeit with a much stronger finish after a poor start. Tons of goals and hopefully clubs are starting to act a bit more financially responsible.

  • Also lol at Villa. Yeah, Unai definitely deserves all his plaudits. Football fans are stoopid.

  • If Palace can hang on to the majority of their starting XI......

  • If you'd offered me sixth at the start of the season I would've bitten your arm off.

  • NUFC and Spurs flying to Australia a couple of hours after the end of the season is pretty nuts

  • Totally - wondering how that worked - did they literally have a shower, get changed and jump straight on a 26-hr flight? Or did they spend a night in a hotel first? Assuming it's separate private flights?

  • Best Premier League season for ages. Well done City.

And arsenal and Liverpool who pushed them all the way with some scintillating football.

Chelsea, Villa, Spurs and Palace (I hope) to all push on and make it even tighter next year

  • NUFC and Spurs flying to Australia a couple of hours after the end of the season is pretty nuts

To be fair it is for their cup final.

  • Spurs were boarding at 9pm last night

  • Read this morning that according to Sky Sports data, 60% of viewers watched the Klopp farwell scenes compared to the Man City title winning celebrations only getting about 12% of viewers.

  • Schadenfreude is a powerful thing.

  • Is there a trophy for that?

  • Best Premier League season for ages.

Was it really though? City won and even though it looked tight it was totally predictable and we all knew it was going to happen. Arsenal just managed to save their bottle job* (villa at home) for a bit later in the season to give the illusion of a competition.

All the promoted teams got relegated and were all pretty much mathematically down two weeks from the final day.

*aware this is quite uncharitable, but couldn’t think of another way to phrase it.

  • I dunno dude. if you didn't enjoy the PL 'product' this year then not sure what to say.

Weren't city 10 points adift at some point so don't think it was that predictable.

Arsenal and Liverpool have played some brilliant football and improvements at Chelsea and others means hopefully more competitive next season.

Bournemouth, Wolves, Palace and even your guys, all provided top entertainment this season.

I feel for Luton and Burnley as they really competed at times. I expect Leicester, Ipswich and Leeds/Soton will make a better fist of it next season.

I have really enjoyed the football and the drama this season. And I do feel the title was a tighter battle than recent years

  • Been thinking about Klopp legacy on the Premier League.

Don’t think he breaks the top 3 managers maybe have him beside Mourinho but that’s neglecting long term mid managers who’ve achieved lots with what they have.

Fergie and Wenger are above him for the longevity and those head to head years. Guardiola has changed football entirely tactically so he is above, no ones gegen pressing ffs.

Open to critique but I’ll disagree with it.

The step up is bigger than ever now, but you have to think they will particularly as most of them have been competitive in the Prem recently. Burnley spent £100m in the summer but that didn't get them anywhere (although Luca Koleosho looked well tidy) and the majority of Ipswich's side were with them in League One although they had a small budget in the Championship which will help them in PSR terms. Leicester have PSR issues so may need to sell before they even start to improve their squad (I assume the EFL transfer embargo doesn't apply to the Prem?). It's a brutal league.

  • I dunno dude. if you didn't enjoy the PL 'product' this year then not sure what to say.

I thought the product was shit this year. It's obviously shitter when you're down the bottom and not winning and know that you're going to get hammered by the likes of Man City.

But crap refereeing, and VAR in particular, makes going to watch games horrendous. It strips all the excitement and spontaneity out and leaves you with long spells of standing around wondering what the fuck is going on. Add to that the constant diving (which is constantly rewarded) and it is just a bit shit to watch.

Even though we (Burnley) suffered from some inexplicable refereeing/VAR decisions this season we fully deserved to go down. Not good enough at defending (which wasn't too big a surprise) or scoring goals (that was a real problem) with Kompany seemingly hugely naive, very stubborn and unable to resist tinkering with the team every week.

  • Burnley spent £100m in the summer but that didn't get them anywhere (although Luca Koleosho looked well tidy)

We spent it on the wrong players though. Mainly a succession of lightweight wingers and attacking midfielders with barely any experience. We signed something like 18 players and only 3 had premier league experience and only 1 was over the age of 25 (Nathan Redmond who barely played and then got injured for the season).

  • Fuck VAR.

I’d probably accept it if it only covered goal line and offside decisions, but even then we’d still complain. But for fouls and handballs and the like, give the ref the sole responsibility back.
