  • Oh man this is the dumbest shit I've watched in a while šŸ˜…

  • This is absolutely brilliant.

I wish it was on e4 and still played drinking games.

    Also isn't 1m yen like Ā£5k?

  • Skated to the allotment with the kids today. Furthest Iā€™ve skated in 20 years. Was carrying a fork and a big rucksack, but was left wondering how on earth I managed to do this all day back in the 90s. Tiring.

Also would better bearings allow me to roll for longer? Am sure my old boards didnā€™t run out of momentum so fast.

  • TL:DR - where do people buy shit now?

    Long version:

So this happened the other day. After owning this little thing forever I used it again. Last time was Jan ā€˜23 and before that who knows? Pretty sure it was a Shiner warehouse clear-out around 2005?

Anyway. Now Iā€™m in that ā€˜mid-late 30ā€™sā€™ and living in flat Devizes, I fancy a good long wide pool/pig deck.

At some point Iā€™ll get all my longboards from the loft at the parentsā€™ house.

Where do people order things online now? I fancy a Santa Cruz reissue style pig deck.

Should I just wait til Iā€™m somewhere like Bath or wherever still has a shop?

I want to support local, but sod paying 200% markup on Bones Reds.

  • Bath has route one which is a chain.

Detour was the independent shop but itā€™s long gone.

Buy online from an Indy shop or Sean Goff runs an eBay shop (Tod twist)

  • Ah Detour is what I was thinking of from forever ago. Iā€™d kinda like to see the boards IRL just for size, but ehh.

I wonder if Lush have anything pool shaped these days.

  • Oof thatā€™s so cheap itā€™s worth it for the hardwareā€¦!

  • edit: Iā€™m being a tart.

    Looks perfect. Doing a buy.

This, I have one, it's a lot of fun: https://lushlongboards.com/buy/dagyr/

  • Yea that would be great, looks like the modern evolution of the original Slide prototype I bought from them in likeā€¦2005?

Theyā€™re out of stock at Lush at the mo. Emailed them to ask when itā€™ll be back in stock. Last time I emailed the guys was about 2006 shortly after their move to Bristol!

Ordered that Mindless deck but concerned the wheels are just too small for my riding style (lazy, cruising, commuting) so weā€™ll see if I get something big and gummy once it arrives or if I save toward the Lush complete.

Thereā€™s a Heroin Egg III and also a Crusher on ebay. They look pretty cool for being much wider pig decks.

This thing is so damn tiny, itā€™s concave which helps, and running Avalons so it laughs at stones. Canā€™t wait to ride something with room to move feet around again though.

  • I hadn't noticed the lack of stock. Bummer.
Could sell you mine with cushy blood oranges.

  • Thanks, I'd be half tempted but I'm gonna see what the Mindless is like and see how I feel...

  • No worries, just give us a shout if so.

  • Arrived today just in time for shit damp weather all weekend. Perfect.

Bought the extra bits while on offer, for when I bother to service one of the old decks. Couldnā€™t find a couple of them when at the parentsā€™ so maybe I sold or gave them away already.

@sacredhart thank you for the heads-up, short of the tiny wheels itā€™s exactly what I wantedā€¦ right down to the concave.

Gonna have a wobble on it later maybe, and decide what wheels to replace these little 55ā€™s with.

Somewhat nervous rolling into town on wheels small enough that a snailā€™s fart could stop dead.

  • Nice! I ordered one of their cheapies for my kid and it's excellent for the money.

  • Mini-Logo AWOLs seem to be reduced in a lot of shops at the moment. 59 or 63mm, 80a. I've got a set, and they're good crusing wheels.

  • Haha I remember 55 being on the upper end of the scale. Think I remember having 43s at one point

  • Sounds good Iā€™ll have a search about.

If I was faster Iā€™d have jumped on the bus to Bath and grabbed some from RouteOne, too much work to do now though!

  • Man they feel tiny after running 3DM Avalons, or jumbo Moska 80mm things from Brazil.

Suppose I could borrow the Retro Zigzags off the Kaliber deck.

  • Maybe the Todd Twist ebay shop. Coming up Ā£20 plus post. Canā€™t see 63ā€™s cheaper anywhere but real skater bro 101aā€™s are less than that elsewhere.

  • You must have skated mid-late 90s! I always hated tiny wheels.

  • And here I am, used to gummy, scared of dust might make me bail.

  • Looking around there are so many non-brands now, recycling all the AliEx kit.

Iā€™m amazed the Mindless branded bits were reduced cheaper than an ebay special.

My moneyā€™s on a lot of the gummy sub-80a ebay wheels being identical on a cruiser to the branded ones. I canā€™t see a lazy rider like me noticing that much at the speeds I will ride now.

Maybe back in the mid 00ā€™s I could have felt the difference in rolling resistance but even these awful 55 suckas with ā€œAbec7ā€ actually roll a few feet.
