Just got my first skateboard in 20 odd years. Real cheapie from Evans. Just had a little run round the block. Resisted the temptation to try and ollie a curb. Wheels are garbage, anyone getting rid of some 57-60mm fairly soft wheels they wouldn’t mind posting.

Also looking on eBay. What do the numbers mean for softness?
-
• #2579
the lower the number the softer the wheels, 101A has the hardest compound

Got back on the skateboard a couple of weeks ago, as jnr is making so much progress.
Swapped out the original bushings on my trucks for something firmer, and skated to the local supermarket, about 15mins away.
Skated there and back with no major issues.
Got home and a couple of hours later realised I’d re aggravated my sciatica. Spent the weekend sitting/lying on a hot water bottle to loosen all the guarding going on in my hips, buttocks and stomach.
Big wake up call to try and address my flexibility and core strength, now before I get too old.
Have second appointment with an acupuncturist to help with the sciatica, and have various exercises ans stretches to help improve the flexibility.Might be a while before I get back on the board again..

Similar happened to me a year ago. Thought I was good until all week after, I wasn’t.

Will be fine as a first board

Yeah without seeing it IRL, this will feel more like a real skateboard than the shit you’d get from Argos.
Also I used to order stuff from Rollersnakes in the 90s over the phone! -

I just bought one of those for my kid! Seems decent. Little details like the bearings are ok/ front two bolts are silver others are black so you can recognise the nose easily. I would recommend. It's shorter than a regular board as well as being 7.25.

I got an STM complete from them when I first got in to skating 'properly' rather than just cruising around. I remember it being pretty decent. Although in retrospect, the Planet Earth board with pink Kryptonics Slammer wheels I had before was pretty nice, just totally unfashionable by then :-)

Normally I wouldn't buy things in advance like this, but for £20, I can't help but think it'd be an alright idea to pick up a couple for each kid to use in the future as we've got a skate park near us.
That said I don't think my eldest has the concentration, or mental stamina right now, and my youngest (who probably does) is only 3yo.
What do the graphics look like irl?

Can't be worse than on site.
-
• #2591
True.
It's not what I really had in mind. But that's the smallest cheap one which makes it worth a punt.
That said my eldest got really into dream catchers and then missed out on making some shit ones from paper plates as school. So to make up, the three of us made some proper ones out of woven wood and wool.

Yeah, for 20beans it's a bargain. At 80 though, it's absolutely heinous.
I suggest you immediately take the wheels off and flip them to the blank side out.

Does anyone want these stock bushings from my Film trucks? I'm going to bin them otherwise. Ridden a couple of times and swapped out for super soft. I'd say these are medium/ hard. Postage cost only obvs.
