  • The Beekeeper

You really need to read the books to fully understand the scene where he pushes his hand through the bandsaw.

Went out early with the dog and currently enjoying The Flash a lot more than i thought i would.

  • It's visually amazing. I still think it's a but too polished though. Gonna give it another watch on a stream I think

  • Ah, a bit like Dune? Maybe I needed more context behind all of the half arsed bee puns.

  • Just being silly. Tbf for a brief moment i did think it was slightly more entertaining than all the boring John Wick sequels.

  • Yeah I know, haha. I sort of enjoyed the first John Wick when it came out but the novelty wears off pretty quickly. At least Statham's extremely ropey accent (so bad they had to include a line explaining it) was entertaining.

  • Thought a lot of the dialogue in Dune 2 fell a bit flat but it was still a good watch (Enfield IMAX). I've read the first book, which was good but I don't see how they can go into that level of detail without producing something like 10h of cinema. The 1984 film, at least the shorter one, was great I thought. Really captured the strangeness of the world in the book and felt quite true to the story.

  • Yeah, it's ok. I guess I'd grown up a bit more and it maybe felt a bit cheesy by then. It's still cool and if I spot it on the TV I'll often carry on watching it.

  • Is that the one with the kids? I've watched it and can't really remember anything from it whereas I remember tonnes of bits from the original two. Maybe that's just my age and/or drinking though. :D

  • Do they mention you heard the rumbling trains? And it wasn’t ace when I went there, Bladerunner and The Terminator were, as was the after party place that had a cappuccino machine on other nights.

  • To complete the triple bill

  • Aww Perfect Days, so beautiful! He only wore his watch on his day off! 😊

  • Well I also like the Cineworld in Covent garden because you here the tube running under you in the screens..

  • Well, we saw Migration on Sat morning at toddler club at the local Everyman.

Got to say, toddlers found it scary and had to keep going outside.

  • 10 year old me took a long time to get over the assassin robot spiders.

  • Is there a website somewhere that shows you all cinema times/locations for a film rather than having to go around individual sites?

I found this one but it only goes to the 21st and I want it for Friday, 22nd.

    Cheers

  • You remember more then me :-/

  • Thanksgiving
Eli Roth take on a slasher.
Very homage-y to Halloween (opener) and 90s revivals through out (Scream, I know what you did last summer, et al)
Obviously tongue firmly in cheek and doesn't take itself seriously (but not parody)

Pretty gruesome in places (Eli Roth, expected) pretty laughable in others.
I enjoyed it enough and would watch again closer to the season.

  • Google does this if you search the film then Showtimes. Could be wrong but might have to wait until end of Monday to see most Friday schedules published?

  • Dune Part 2 - big fan of part 1 don't get all the positive reviews. Harkonnens had become cartoon villains, cutting people's throats every 2 secs. Cheap soap opera story telling tricks (akin to GoT). Themes from the first movie continued but in crude, unsubtle ways. Performances that feel like they were phoned in. A slight Disney version of Star Wars vibe. Cliched set pieces - gladiator battle and 1 on 1 fight between good guy and bad guy. Also, I miss the guild navigators.

  • Really enjoyed Dream Scenario, not easy to pull something off like that and beautifully shot.

  • Decision to Leave is on iPlayer. Plods along slowly but beautifully. A bit of a straggly plot but enough to keep you watching if melancholy is your thing.
Korean (and mandarin in parts) with subtitles. Directed by Park Chan-wook of Oldboy fame.

  • Wonder boys on iPlayer. Dir Curtis Hanson.
I think this is great with a superb performance from Michael Douglas.

  • It's on Mubi as well at the moment. I watched it last week and enjoyed it a lot. Definitely a slow burn!

  • Wonder boys

Love the soundtrack . Proper Old Git sounds

  • Cheers, I don't normally use Google so hadn't seen that

Now to decide whether I want to pay £25 to watch Dune at the Imax or £5.99 for my local Cineworld (or in between at Picture House for £12).
