How is the bb height? Looks like you'll pedal strike easily no?
-
• #2008
I've not had any pedal strikes yet. To be fair I've not pushed it to the limit leaning through corners. Quite difficult to lean it due to the super short wheelbase...

I've felt limited to the terrain with the tires that came on the bike.. 20x1.35 is sufficient for road and hard pack but falls off on loose gravel/dirt... Had to clearance the 20x1.8 for the rear brake bridge.. fingers crossed the front 20x1.38 won't lead to any filling

It is way more fun without the head tube extender... Raising up the bar height definitely helped getting weight further behind the saddle to help avoid the front wheel from diving on the loose stuff... On the pavement it was more of a buzz kill. I was really into the narrow/shallow midg' style bars. Especially on road in the open, riding in the drops so close to the ground just made more sense.. Eating wind is my biggest peave about flat/riser bars
I've ordered a maxxis dth tire in 20x1.38 to add tread and increase traction on the front. I finalized my decision after seeing them on the mini argo thread.. I hope it is hard wearing enough to run as a back tire... Might order a second to size up and match the 20x1.8 currently

Got a used zipp inline post/brooks style leather saddle unbroken in for the njs... While I wait for the front tire to arrive for the mini bike

Black seatpost felt sacrilege and from the research of setting up, rails on the saddle are set far back... Did the same route on the Bomber and felt the difference of 700c to 20" wheels.

Bidding time before the thicker treaded front tire arrives... Oiled and released preload on the nose of the saddle to help break in/bedding.... Experimenting with a MTB zero degree stem with dropps. Spent time adding more clearance for the back tire.. road to gravel conversion almost complete.

Got the mini Lo serving the purpose as a wet day runaround.. it took 3 days to get a comfortable amount of clearance for the chunky front tire to work... Let's just say jb weld will have to fill the spots that I blew through with the file. 48/15 is great on the road but fear that gravel might feel a little heavy over longer distances.. The saddle feels more supple but this might be an offset of having the beefier front tire running low psi. It's definitely worth the drag penalty to have the cushhh

I love a good rat bike but this bartape is too much...
Would it be possible to fit a BMX fork in there? Not sure what steerer length you need? Would be a better option than losing your teeth/ parts of your face -

I'm with kjlem, when a stone gets stuck in the tread of that front tyre you're on a one way trip over the bars

Ive started looking for different fork options to increase the intensity and ease my conscience... These in particular because of the flat profile blades

The rotation of the wheel means the stone will be on the rearside, when meeting the crown. I can’t see that stopping the wheel. Great job Skrtluv.

the spots that I blew through with the file
It was the holes in the fork crown that worried me

Out for the first gravel test since up sizing the tires.. No issues so far... I will be heading to the city next weekend to check fitment of a fork at a shop, fingers crossed

Back after a week in Jamaica... 6 days at an all inclusive has resulted in some extra padding. Hopefully it will help with breaking in the leather saddle. Out to spread faith without chamois and it feels so good

Picked up from my friend who lives closer to the seller on marketplace... Got to ride it 10 blocks downtown to the train and back home.. I can say that drops felt pointless being so close to the ground. Going from 700c to 20 inch wheels felt low enough.
