If you reach a place where Johnson is the answer then what was the question?
-
• #7053
I guess he doesn't need to be if he becomes leader after Parliament is dissolved for an election. Technically none of them are MPs at that point.
-
• #7054
Maybe that's the deal they make/have made in return for Johnson joining the campaign trail on red wall seats?
-

This is a massive miscalculation on Hesters part too. If he kept his head down and 9 of the 10mil in the bank, then I think it's likely that his contracts would have continued into the Lab gov. Data collection systems on that scale are risky to change and the outcome of issues in a clinical setting can be severe.
He's made himself a target by being a cunt and makeing huge donations to a political party. This risks his cash cow.

Who's the biggest cunt?

Parliament is dissolved because there's a General Election. They have a Leadership Election during A General Election Campaign?

• #7058
Would be quite a spectacle to watch playing out though

Another twist of the knife, from a Tory.
Andy Street says he would give the money back.

Ian Dunt: "We're clearly looking at one of the most staggeringly inept
political operations we've seen for years... now the Tories have
adopted a line that he's not a racist, he just says racist things &
therefore we get to keep the money... that's not tenable position to
be in" -

Less a leadership election, more of a shoo-in the day after parliament is dissolved.
-
• #7062
I’m surprised none of them have said “sure, we’ll keep the money, better for a misogynistic racist to be £10m out of pocket”

I just keep thinking back to a conversation with a friend, who unfortunately is a Tory, about 5 years back. Saying to him, 'You cunts have won - you have the media sewn up, the public convinced you're the natural party of government, Brexit has shifted the Overton window miles to the right, you're gerrymandering to shore it all up. You are bulletproof and have no natural predators.' I genuinely thought it was impossible we'd see a change in government in a generation or more, and don't even now think my logic was flawed.
The good thing was that they believed it too. They thought they could get away with their turbo-charged mix of incompetence, complacency, fuckwittery, bigotry and utter blatant contempt for anyone who isn't them in perpetuum. That they've blown it all so completely and so quickly is actually breathtaking.

Don’t get high on your own supply.

Some guy has popped up and said that they'd actually be up for taking more cash from him, since he's not a rascist:
As PA Media reports, asked on whether the Conservatives would take another £10 million from Hester, Hollinrake said:
On the basis that we don’t think Mr Hester is a racist, yes.
Asked to clarify that the Tories would accept further money from the businessman, the minister said: “As I now understand the situation, yes.”

He's not coughed up to being a racist, just rude, so it's business as usual.
PMQs is gonna be good

There’s a first time for everything.

You'd hope that there's some sort of mortality / behaviour clause in the contract, that would enable an incoming government to nix the arrangement, and carve the whole lot out without a protracted, expensive and leaky migration.
But there won't be, and 80m insurance records will find themselves wrapped up as a nice gift to a US health insurer.

Its very very important that he was racist but he also called for her to be shot, which is putting an MPs life in danger, which the current government apparently have a massive hard on for. That needs to be alongside the racism in all the headlines and questioning. Your biggest donor can't be inciting violence against sitting MPs. Zero tolerance.

Absolutely desperate stuff from Sunk today. Fucking hell

Woeful from Sunak.
Health secretary sitting there open-mouthed throughout was bizarre.
Batshit Jenkyns going on about the ECHR like she knows what it actually does...

He has a charm that works on people.
He has a charm that works on fuckwits and morons. But that does cover a large number of people, so fair point.

I think he was looking for a peerage upgrade to his OBE with this £10m . He doesn't need the money of extra Govt contracts but anyone that puts OBE in his twitter handle obviously gets a boner out of badges from the powers that be

So ALL the tories are happily going to skip in line to a johnson coronation?
All Happy Campers; No rows Guaranteed?
-
• #7075
Who's the father?
Except any nomination would need to be approved by Conservative HQ, and Sunak would block it.
