• Beautiful clear sky tonight so was really looking forward to getting a few hours in on the telescope. Nothing. For some reason it wasn't tracking properly, 10sec exposure was too long so I was getting star trails in every frame and then I couldn't get it to focus, very frustrating. Came away with SFA! I'll try again tomorrow. 😳🙃

  • Lovely crescent moon this evening!

  • Nice! Only spotted it as it was about to set, but hoping to get out tomorrow to have a look if the skies are clear.

  • Skies were lovely and clear last night

  • Lovely! I was hoping to get out tonight but clouds are coming in again, can't believe we haven't had a clear night in so long. Only one since I got the Seestar, unheard of!

And I've got a new levelling mount to try out!

  • It's been mentioned on here before but I highly recommend a trip to
https://www.the-observatory.org/ if you fancy a fun and informative family day out. Lots to see and do.

  • I managed to see the moon tonight! With my own telescope! It was fleeting unfortunately as the mist moved in as I was getting super excited.

Edit: Aaaaand in the time I was going to post an annoying photo of the moon... Its gone too.

  • Included the case cause cats make things better

  • I've managed a couple of hours with the telescope over the last couple of nights and managed to get the moon this evening for the first time, I just love the result.

I haven't looked at any of these images in Photoshop on a big monitor yet, they look impressive on a phone but the resolution isn't very high. But for the price you're paying I still think this telescope is a great deal, a brilliant introduction to astrophotography.

Here's an image stacked from a five minute RAW video, this was so much fun. I've upped the contrast a tiny bit in Android Photoshop but it's pretty much straight out of the Seestar. 👀

  • Brilliant stuff I love the nebula bits too. Keep em comming

  • Here's a couple more then, the Sombrero Galaxy from last night and another Orion Nebula from tonight. I went a bit mad on the filters on these two. 🤩

  • Sombrero Galaxy

That's your next band name sorted.

  • Galaxy Gramophone would be a mouthful but I'd go with that! TSOOL have been on heavy rotation at TS Towers recently.

  • Nice shots! And how come I’d not come across TSOOL before?

  • They had a fleeting moment where it looked like they were gonna get massive but it didn't quite happen for them. My fave band from that era, incredible live!

  • I see they’re playing at Underworld in March. Hmmm. Last band I saw there was probably Bongwater. Edit: Electric Ballroom, not Underworld

  • Oh my, I'm tempted to come over to Europe for that!!

  • Looks like I'm gonna get a clear night tonight, any requests for the Seestar?

  • Tarantula nebula please Joe!

  • Gah, I was asking for trouble!!

  • If it clears up that's what I'll go for!

  • It's totally clouded over now, gah! This is very unusual for down here, they were predicting a drought at the start of the summer and it's been wet AF, crazy rainfall, floods, etc, and shit skies! 🙃

I'll try again when I can and the Tarantula Nebula will be my first target.

  • Thanks Joe! I failed to look out for it when I was on the underside of the planet back in 2010.
