• Thanks for follow up, seems like a game changer of a product to me. Looking forward to seeing results.

  • ahhhh... mines dead... looks like i need to by a new one... Thats annoying

  • Be sure to just check if it needs some new batteries first!

  • Already done πŸ˜‚ now must remember not to throw away the broken one with the new battery!

  • Clouds, a full moon and user error (I haven't read the instructions yet πŸ™ƒ) all conspired to yield shit results. This is a screenshot of a few seconds of M42, the Seestar wasn't targetting very well, I'm obvs doing something wrong.

The moon was still behind trees before I went to bed so I couldn't get a decent look at that. Will try harder (and read the instructions) before next time. πŸ˜‹

  • Looking promising - it’s nailed the focus on the trapezium stars at the heart of the nebula!

  • Would you mind showing your full set up?

  • Yes! From what little I've read, best results come from stacking the files externally then manipulating those images in Photoshop or what have you. Tho' you can get good results straight out of the scope as a jpeg.

If you know what you're doing. πŸ™ƒ

  • Just the Seestar S50 and my Pixel 8, that's it.

  • Thanks. Do you need an Internet connection for the app to set up the star search. Where I go for dark skies has no internet connection. So when using Stellarium etc. I struggle for id.

  • The view of your night sky must be amazing down your side. I'm seriously jealous.

  • Spectacularly clear night on my way home just outside Towton considering still 80% moon. The ISS was passing but too low to be picked up by my Pixel 5. But Orion clear as a bell.

  • Cool!

  • Still cloudy here, frustrating but work has been a bit hectic so enjoying lazy evenings on the couch. πŸŒ§οΈπŸ”

  • I've got a clear night sky! Just did a quick Orion Nebula straight out of the S50, this was a less than 5min exposure. I'm currently pointing it at the Horse Head Nebula, amazing to watch an image emerge out of the darkness.

  • Very cool.

  • Here's that quick Horse Head Nebula, I took the piss a bit with the contrast and colour saturation in the Seestar app, that's all I've done to it tho'. Jpeg output, will be much better stacked with the files in the telescope, might try that tomorrow!

    This is fun!

  • Just tried to get the moon but by the time I'd levelled the telescope clouds had obscured my view. Right, off to bed!

  • Wow . Pretty spectacular . I wonder where the darkest place is near Crystal Palace ..

  • In the park.

  • Yep, used to go up there and was able to see Jupiter's stripes & red spot on a good night with a little 130mm telescope!

  • Will give it a go , just binoculars at the moment for me after I sold my telephone when I moved to London ..
