• Here you go, it miraculously cleared up long enough to grab 15mins or so pointing at it. Not the clearest imaging but it's quite a small object in the sky, isn't it?

Right, I'm away to bed! πŸ™ƒ

  • That’s brilliant, thanks for capturing it! Part of me wants to give up taking photos because these Seestar things are so good, but I am also tempted to get one of my own if I can sell a few bikes…

  • Part of me wants to give up taking photos

Please, no. Seestar is fake astrophotography!! πŸ™ƒ

  • But it is cool.

  • Ha, brilliant, thanks for sharing those.

@Ludd I think there's room for both bits of kit, especially if you're taking wide angle Milky Way shots or moon+foreground stuff...

  • The sky cleared at 10pm last night, took a 7min RAW video of the moon then stacked the file into this image, that took an hour and then I had to go to bed so no more stargazing!

  • Looking at your photos sort of justifies wanting one. Looking at your photos sort of negates the need for one.
    IYSWIM

  • I totally get you. You could just download the app and look at the community stuff, which is what I did when it first appeared. It whets the appetite tho'. πŸ˜‹

  • Finally got a clear, moonless night. Excuse the OTT post in Android Photoshop, I still haven't hooked the Seestar up to my laptop to try some proper editing. Sol, Orion Nebula (again, sorry!) and the Carina Nebula.

    I'm still having fun. 🀩

  • Amazing that a dickhead like you can get shots like that in their garden.

    Super cool.

  • Best compliment sandwich ever. 🀣

  • Those images do look great on your phone but it's not such a great experience when you look at them on a big screen, that's when the Seestar's limitations come into very sharp, er, focus. Or not, as the case may be. 🀑

I may sell it while they're still a hot item and wait for the next generation, a bigger CCD would be absolutely fantastic.

It's super fun and very addictive, total gateway telescope. πŸ’Š

  • I was out looking at ducks and things this morning and enjoyed this view of sunspots

  • Red aurora alert just now - hope it stays clear!

  • How far south are we talking?

  • All of UK apparently

  • Sadly the levels of activity have dropped off massively in the last hour

  • Some green and pink showing now

  • We haven't had a clear night in over two weeks, it's been a shit first summer with the Seestar, been out only a handful of times with it. Very unusual for where we are.

  • Been waiting for the sky to clear to see the comet near Andromeda but no luck.

come back to the uk, i think i saw the sun once this week

  • We still get plenty of sun (😎) just no clear nights. Very frustrating when you've had a beautiful day without a cloud in the sky and the moment the sun goes down it's overcast!

  • But TBH if it's gonna be cloudy at some point in the day I'd much rather have a sunny day. That's down to years of putting up with shit weather over there.

    So I'll stop moaning. πŸ™ƒ
