  • Asakusa! That place was great. Also heard rumours of a change of ownership but not been in years so no idea if that’s good or bad.

  • There was a great Cambodian place called Lemongrass which I loved. Sadly the owner died last year and they've called it a day.

  • Booked Asakusa, will report back

  • Try Bintang at the Camden end of Kentish Town.

  • Three Uncles or Bear & Garlic in Hawley wharf

  • Bit golf club, but suggestions for a nice not fancy/posh lunch spot in Mayfair/Marylebone near Oxford Circus? Taking a business contact but likely won’t be able to expense costs.

  • Walk 5 mins the other way down to Brasserie Zedel.

  • Kiln or Dean St Townhouse

  • Kiln 🙏🏻

  • Dinner at The Wolseley last night. The food is simple but delicious and the dining room is just such a lovely place to be. Delightful date night.

  • friend's birthday is on valentines day, having a gathering up in london fields, broadway market sides. Restaurant suggestions around there that's not too pricey, chill atmosphere, where a couple who don't really celebrate valentines (I say we don't' celebrate valentines, but pretty sure my missus would be upset if we did nothing) can have some nice food.
    thanks

  • Pidgin is great, but perhaps over budget? If heading that way I'd consider the Little Duck on Dalston Lane too...

  • Yeah pidgin is probably over budget.. but looks interesting.
@Jameo sine looks interesting as well, not a fan of valentine menus though..

  • Pidgin have a reduced menu now which brings the food to under £50 I think. I've enjoyed the two times I've been there anyway.

I would just say Koya around Broadway Market, but I'm very lazy and never left there feeling disappointed

  • Cafe Cecilia would be my go to

  • I see levante in lewisham has been reviewed by Jay Rayner today in the observer and he says its worth a visit. Since the demise of oven east in Leytonstone I've been looking for a cheap Turkish place to try for lunch. Will combine this with a visit to Greenwich next week.

Must be the only place he's been to for a while where you can get a deal on Groupon for 12 quid to go and eat there (I expect they'll be pulling their Groupon deal as soon as they're contractually able to as they will get a lot more people visiting after the article today)

  • Went yesterday to levante - really nice and insane value for money.

  • Jay is loving Lewisham right now, he did Everest curry last year. So he’s covered the only 2 restaurants in Lewisham now.

  • Interesting he was shooting for Antonio's which is also great! Levante is an absolute gem though - I'm glad for them.

  • Would thoroughly recommend Polentina in Bow - really interesting Austrian-Italian fusion going on.

Went here in the summer, another hard recommend. Still dreaming of the pesche al vino bianco.

  • Talking of Mr Rayner, I have two tickets for his jazz band playing at the pizza express club in Holborn this coming Wednesday but can’t make it , does anyone want them for face value £60 for the pair?

  • Is there a difference between the Nobus and does anyone know which would be the one to go to if one of you is veggie?

    Cheers

  • I came across a sushi/omakase place online about a year ago, which I'm trying to track down. All I can remember is that it was very small, had older Japanese proprietors, about middle of the road in terms of pricing, and that the menu was a Word document. I don't think they even had a website. Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Edit: It might have been Sushi Tetsu
