  • So, I picked up a Charge Plug 5 frame for the princely sum of 75 quid. I have a soft spot for Charge Bikes and Tange Prestige is massively underrated. Hoping I can squeeze a 650bx47 tyre in the back.

  • Put a few miles on this. It’s fun. The rear tyre rubs a bit but it’s not enough of an issue that I can be bothered to do anything about it.

  • Looks super fun! Very much enjoying the handlebar tape

  • First trip of the year. Mid-week excursion following the Pannier CC ‘Dalescape’ route from Harrogate to Tan Hill Inn, the highest pub in Britain at 528m, then back down to York.

Even moody skys, high winds and my first encounter with midges (bastards) couldn’t dampen the excitement at finally getting out.

  • Rad bike and looks like some great riding

  • Gave my BFe a bit of a revamp after a 6 month hiatus. New wheels - Superstar V6 x WTB i29 Asymmetric - and the forum-favourite Mezcals. I’ve yet to actually ride them but I’m continually impressed with Vittoria tyres, really easy to set up tubeless. Next job is to drop the forks to 120mm.

  • A BFe with forks at 120?!

  • Yeah I know. Trying to make it a bit more distance friendly. I'd like a SolarisMAX but that'd necessitate new forks and wheels which seems a bit daft given I've just built these up, not to mention expensive.

  • At the other end of the spectrum, I threw this together last night and headed out on a 50 mile shakedown ride this morning. @jnthn kindly posted the frame to me and the crankset came from @Aleksi . Most everything else was plundered from my parts bin.

Also after 3 years of (half-hearted) searching, I finally managed to source a 2nd hand Phil Wood front hub to go with the rear (currently laced to an Open Pro). Rim choices are somewhat limited by the fact that the rear hub is 36h - I've narrowed it down to either Velocity A23s or Archetypes.

  • The lovely anodised brake track lasted a grand total of two rides. Admittedly one of those was a 180km epic from Derby to Cheltenham. I think we encountered just about every surface possible over the course of the day.

  • A year and a half and 10,000km or so later, the Dart remains unchanged. Got through a few sets of tyres/chains/bar tape in that time. It's done everything from club 10s to audaxs. Love it.

  • I recently acquired a CAAD10 frame from a mate. 2013 model in Liquigas colours with full external cable routing and discoloured forks (reputedly a paint fuck up on Cannondale's part).

Built up with a mixture of 105 5800 and R7000. Wheels are Tune hubs on Archetype rear/unbranded front. Tip the scales at just over 1400g. Only thing I intend to change are the RS510 cranks which are nearly a kilo on their own.

  • On the MTB front, I replaced the BFe with a Surly Krampus that came up for sale locally. Got me round the West Kernow Way (minus the Lizard) back in April.

Currently sporting a pair of last years Pikes that I snapped up at a heavy discount and 2.6in Maxxis Forekaster/Ikons.

  • New gravel bike in the works. If you squint it’s almost a Fairlight Holt.

  • Bit of backstory: the bike was involved in an accident - the owner brought it in for an assessment for their insurance and never returned to collect it. I dug it out whilst clearing the shop ahead of a move.
Salvaged what I could, the front wheel was taco’d and the dropout damaged on the original Reba forks.

  • Rebuilt the front wheel on a Kinlin TL-23 rim. Trawling Ebay turned up a pair of Salsa forks and an XT M770 chainset.

  • Should be good! I'd like to get a derailleur on mine and do similar. Sticking to no sweep on the bars?

  • Yeah for now. They came with it and I'm trying to spend as little as possible (cost £250 so far, a large proportion of which is accounted for by the tyres and tubeless bits and bobs). Just waiting on a new chainring and front axle to get it rolling.

Way too excited about commuting on it!

  • CAAD in hillclimb guise with 1x10 Red/Force and Giant SLR1s. ~7kg on the bathroom scales. Heavier than I’d like and so am I but that’s life.

    Burrington Combe on the weekend.

  • I'll be there riding a State 'Deflated' Fixie – will keep an eye out for this sweet whip.

  • This is gorgeous, how have you made a cream fork look so good?

  • Left my bib shorts hanging up at home lol so I will be a DNS unless I go full Andre Agassi and do it in denim shorts.
