I’m planning a 130km ride with this climb on my way home at about the 120km mark, so will aim for about 1:45. If no space on the hill there’s a couple more options on the way back.

Ah sorry I assumed you were driving there as you asked about road closures. If you get to the spot on the climb 20 mins ahead of the planned time you should be good

To second that, this from Joe Laverick the other day backs that up (he refers to St Piran further up in the thread) - https://twitter.com/JoeLavo/status/1693318689150427365?s=20

That final kilometre in the ToB today was sketchy as fuck - do you think the Vuelta organisers helped plan it?

Their is nothing wrong with wrexham . Plus the reason the stage was so short was because the neighbouring council denbigh would not allow it to go over the horseshoe and blych. Saw it today and their are probable more motorbikes than riders.

I did wonder if political boundaries meant the route ignored lots of the good stuff around there. Rosies Cider Farm would've made a great viewing spot of it'd gone up that way.

I didn't criticise Wrexham, I criticised the organisers' choice of stage finish location within the town and the approach to it.

You’ll be fine as long as you arrive 30-40 mins ahead of the expected arrival, the police bikes arrived maybe 15 mins ahead of the race on Sunday but they were waving cars through for another 5 mins and allowed cyclists through where we were

Did they think to get former son of Wrexham and cycling fanatic Ben Foster to attend today and give an enormous boost to their viewing figures through his YouTube? Did they hell

I’ve just watched the last 15 kms of the stage and the number of unmarshalled junctions, parked cars and cones in the road was astonishing, let alone the dodgy last 2 kms of road. What a shambles.

I dont know where the 100 motos went by then .

It seems they all ride their own bikes though? Mix of Trek's, and Specialized's mostly.
Doubt they even need to pay much, With Wiv-Sungod and Ribble-Weldtite folding, the only other option for a UK Continental pro is Trinity, and they're for junior and u23's

Been thinking about the Vuelta. Yeah it's a GT but all GTs are the not the same. Here's my analogy:
Giro: your good friend's 30th birthday. Venue should be good, most of the old crew but lots people you've never met who are actually really cool, probably going to be the best night of somebody's life. Amazing bar we are DEFINITELY coming back here
Tdf: a wedding reception. Could be a boring stage-managed swish one with the sit-down roast dinner and the chair covers, or could be all-in-it together family affair with rivalaries and emotions and shouting by the chip van at 9am. Either way venue is nuts good, where did they get all the money for this? Open bar. Everyone is at this one, like 300 fucking people here. A fun day, maybe you pay £70 to get a taxi back to the village B&B, maybe you get to have it off with someone behind a hatchback in the carpark
Vuelta: house party. Whoa who the hell are all these people, I thought knew most of Rachel's friends but I don't recognise anyone here. Did this get out on Tiktok? DJ might be amazing (fuck he brought his own vinyl!) or could be some 'bro' who think he can mix and christ it's awful. Everyone gets fucked up, impossible to know who had a good time as no one can remember

Annual appraisal with line manager in Costa because they want to keep it casual. Make sure to update your objectives beforehand though.

Cor, lovely GTR that, can see why they wanted to show it.

Redbrick student house party. Head of the student union is here and a couple of their mates. Mostly tins of Carling and 3rd years talking about moving to Balham after graduation. A bit of coke but no good gear. 3 guys who are actually from Sheffield outdrink everyone but are passed out when the cops show up

You missed out the inevitable random mature student originally from Dundee who's punched a hole in the kitchen wall and is now sobbing in the lavatory, prone muttering to himself with the occasional whelp.

yeah but Obree has retired so missed it off
I doubt most of them get much of a wage, probably kit and expenses only.
Edit: asked someone who would know and all the riders are on a bike, kit and expenses deal. Budget is estimated to be in the low six figure range.
