To CP1 was the kicker but I've not done any route planning so I have no idea what the rest of the route holds.

I mean that's what happens, riders fan out away from CPs and then all meet again at CPs.

It's nice that's there's not one hugely dominating rider (yet). Sorry @skinny

Fixed route compares horsepower and willpower. Free-route throws in planning. Different kettles of fish. I like riding them both more than I like dotwatching.

Cheering Robin on even though if Strasser pulls away it is still amazing. Just that a race is fun.

I'd be high top 10 if i were racing, they're another level.

What’s the fascination with dot watching/trying to follow this online? I’m genuinely trying to get into it post TDF.

It's unsupported with so many variables and propensity for things to go wrong / different route choices. Where people are sleeping on the side of the road etc. It's a life changing thing.

For me, I pay more attention if I've got mates racing.

What do you enjoy about TDF?
