I have a Eno rear wheel with a 19T White industries freewheel and a set of Eno Cranks finishing on Ebay tomorrow.

Nooo don’t chop!

I thought it was you... I've been keeping an eye on them.

I don't see why not? My thoughts are, I have a bear valley SE if I end up wanting a geard marin again and these frames are not very expensive so if it fails I'm all good :)
-
• #431
But then it can’t be reused by anyone again if they want gears?

This hub might fit the WI one in terms of hub design and amount of "rattyness". :D

Edit: I'm all for chopping. It's your bike, go for it. :-) Been meaning to do the same to mine for a while. Just don't have the time right now to bring it to the powder coater, etc.

Yeah do it, it will look good. Remember that DNfive do nice replacement graphics if you go that route.
Also angle grinder with a flap disc is the quickest and cleanest way to get those tabs off. -

This is in my watch list already and I agree, the right hub tbf.

Yeah man, I've got all the equipment ready. Just need to find the time to build up wheels, get all choppy!
Re graphics, I'm going to hand paint some branding on once it's been painted. Give it that personal touch.
I'd even like to get a head badge of sorts too.

I am really excited about this new direction for the marin.
Everyone doubting this direction will soon be converted when they see the final product x

I’m sure the final product will be rad. Maybe I just wish I had the same ability to cut loose and discard unwanted items.

Totally agree!
I want something like it. -

I rode the Marin 1x1 today in its ALMOST final form.
It rips and I love it. No pictures yet as I want a grand reveal once paint / spec is finalised... But this could be a while as life things are gearing up.
Also, I'm going to sell the All City. I don't need it and by selling it I'll ride my transition more, which I do want. When it comes to bike packing I will just use either the Basket marin or transition.

Due to selling this, I'm giving it a make over / service.
Putting some nice finishing kit on that's just sitting here doing nada (brand new VO grand cru post, VO stem and nitto m106 bars)
2x10 tiagra 4700 shifting, hope pro 2 / stans rear wheel, GK 37c tyres, avid bb5 brakes (sorry).
If anyone is interested please pm me or wait for the final classified add.
:)

So, the basket Marin Bear Valley SE is no longer.
Even though I loved how that bike rode, loved the look and fandom, it was time to pass it on. Simply because something more interesting and rarer came in through work and I couldn't say no.
Enter: A2 bikes A77.
What is that you say? Who are they? Well, little information can be found on the company apart from they were a well respected sports brand in the 80/90 that made hi end ski and snowboard gear, and then some roller blades? And then dipped their toe in bikes... Some say they never built their bikes themselves and got other brands to build and they just branded then, who knows, it's all unclear.
I can not find much information on the A2 bikes side of thing, though this German fourm thread explains some of the brand and bike history
From what I can find, it's 1994 and the second highest specced model they produced in this line up.
I would also say one of the coolest, the smoothed welds look something like cannondale would do, the top tube is profiled at the seattube and then head tube, the cable routing on the TT is cool, the dropouts look like something from a Yeti, the in house branded "K-tec" parts are cool, the frame is silly light - made from 7005 Easton tubing and then the cool graphics and paint job..
Overall I am stoked on how the first iteration of this "Ronnie Wagon" has turned out. It is so much nimble than the marin was, has a shorter wheel base, perhaps steeper head angle, the weight definitely helps.
Looks super nice too.
I am waiting on a chain and cassette and then I can run full 9 speed XTR on this build, also want some matching silver braided outer housing to complete the look...
Please, as always let me know what you think and if ANYONE has any information on K2 bikes or has one themselves please share.
(if you can't tell, I'm buzzing about this build)

Looks ace. Ask on the retro bikes pages on Facebook as you seen them pop up from time to time so they will know loads about them.
There's no such a thing as teal poo or was it a 2020 trend?!
