  • see-yous.

If there hasn't been any wide spread official pronunciation I think we should absolutely crowd impose this.

  • Like the canal

  • I can says electric shifting is a real joy, sure gotta charge battery, but it’s so nice being able to not only just tap to change gears on tricky terrain, wireless blips shifters on the top of the handlebar make climbing even more a joy.

From a mechanic perspective; it’s like the early generation of hydraulic brakes where people kept commenting on not being able to bleed it in the vast Mongolia Steppe whom have no business being in the middle of Epping Forest.

Ironically more problem with cables than electronics, even water was far from being a problem.

  • Petit porteur is high on the list for upcoming projects.
Seeing as you said you built the last pink one, do you work there?

  • Almost wrote something like this.
Then I realised that would probably end up with me ordering axs or whatever it's called.

  • wireless bibs

It's hard to keep up with all the new technology

  • South Yorkshire: no gravel at all

  • Anyone know if there is any Gravel worth finding around Swanage.
We are already looking at hiring E-bikes and a dog trailer for a family Gravel outing (my family are 2xcyclists , 2x pedestrians and a dog). Then maybe do a longer day just cyclists.

  • Look up the Dorset Gravel Dash route, it's top class

  • The coastal path is pretty great, out to old Harry rocks and beyond. Was out there a few years ago and hired a shitty hardtail and had a great time. Couple of patches where it got too sandy to ride, but otherwise lots of nice not-gnarly off road stuff.

  • Also the various Brother in the Wild routes

  • Not attempting to stir up a debate, but....

I do not find electric shifting to be a real joy. I find it has no feel, no charm and consider it frankly unsatisfying. It's effective and impressive, but it adds nothing and it's definitely a step backwards with regard to joy.

This coming from someone who has been riding a DI2 system almost daily for years.

I lump it in with the rest of the disposable craftless new-is-better ever changing shit the bike industry shoves down our throats.

I wish racing didn't have such a foothold on product development.

  • I think you might need help with this.

  • Although I might need to join you having just bought white gravel shoes lol

  • White gravel shoes would have looked great for the last 2 weeks, up until this morning

  • How do you dress for 20 degrees but pouring down?!

  • Swimsuit and wellies?

  • I'm in that area next week (well, New Forest actually). We're planning on doing doing a ride from Lyndhurst>Lulworth that looks about 40-45% unpaved. Need to work the route a little though (there are so many unpaved roads in NF that it's actually quite hard to plan in RideWithGPS. Between Swanage and Lulworth, the key parts for me to include were the Priest's Way/Spyway to Swyre Head, and then the ridgeway going past Corfe Castle.

The route below isn't the original plan - I had intended a much more direct journey between Kimmeridge and East Lulworth, but turns out there is a big MOD tank firing range there (Lulworth Range) that is off limits most weekdays! Something to be aware of...

  • The best swimsuit is NO swimsuit.

  • On line: Electronic shifting seems to make sense and yeah it makes life easier for mechanics.

In real life: the only time I hear about it is “oh fuck I forgot to charge the Di2”

I’m guessing the power usage is minimal and some kid in DRC was digging up the cobalt anyway for my next phone so that argument falls flat.
But I am also concerned about inbuilt redundancy, or a few years down the line where intelligent shifting will be a thing and there will be a chip and memory and you’ll need to do a firmware upgrade to get out of the big ring

  • Got a link for this? I'm local, pretty sure this section is the MOD area that is off limits.
