Sonder Camino Ti

That is pretty neat. 700x50 and Di2. Maybe when I retire the Tripster to Poland.

According to the government website, B3070 (East Lulworth to West Holme) is open. I think this acts as the western border of the range. Guess we'll find out!
Annoyed that Whiteways road is off limits - the view looks great.

Can somebody please help me understand why titanium bikes are a good thing? Seem like they are expensive, break a lot, and are hard to repair.
Ti riders the 'vinyl only' of the bike world?
-
• #27531
I don't think they are. I've never owned one because they make no sense.
Lighter than steel? Oh wow, so is aluminium.
Comfier than aluminium, oh wow, so is steel.and then you can just stick carbon in there to beat all of them, without the stupid price tag of Ti.

I'm in that area next week (well, New Forest actually). We're planning on doing doing a ride from Lyndhurst>Lulworth that looks about 40-45% unpaved.
Depending on what you mean by next week, consider that you can't cycle along bournemouth seafront in July and August (between 10am and 6pm). I'm yet to plot a nice route that cuts out the beach front, ideas from some locals welcome..

There is a bike path that runs alongside the road down there though isn't there?

There’s an old railway line from Ringwood area to Wimborne, you could head further north towards Blanford for some hood gravel Thomas Hardy way, area. Or cut down towards Corfe Mullen through Lychett in to Wareham forest.

They exist specifically for the old men.

They exist specifically for the old men with too much money.
Fixed that for you, Ed.
Also, I feel seen.

Thanks - aware of this (we will be there in June).
My dad lives down there and informed me. He also warned there have been gangs coming down to the New Forest specifically to steal bikes. Unsure if true or boomer paranoia. Taking my good lock just in case.

The bit on Studland that is not road is as you might expect very sandy and unrideable in places, also very low so can have standing water, the other side of the road is marginally better.
Also I’d avoid the promenade personally and certainly not ride it both ways. -

Humbly suggest a detour at this point to go via Old Harry Rocks, coastal path is bridleway, bit grassy but if you can do it on a shitty rental hardtail as I did then definitely gravel bike-able. Descent down to the rocks was a hoot, views are pretty spectacular.
Currently you appear to be routed along a footpath, which is extremely naughty of you.

Thanks both - good knowledge. I was trying to put together a route from satellite imagery, RWGPS and google images. Assume promenade will just be horrifically busy? I was hoping a weekday would be manageable.
Old Harry was originally in the plan, not sure what happened. With my wife, so the goal is to include as much scenery as possible. Trying to downplay some of the climbing in that area...
Regarding Studland, I was clearly drawn to the naturist beach.
We were planning on walking our bikes on the footpaths...honest.

Good luck with that!
Why always uphill, this road is bumpy, this is too steep, where's the cake and so on.
Basically when we ride together it's the only time that I am not the whiny person. -

Yeah dog walkers, runners, kids, tourists. will be super slow going.
Nudists definite highlight for sure.
Banks Arms garden, In Studland worth a stop. -

I would never ever cycle on a footpath and definitely didn't take a footpath over the weekend in order to avoid a nasty bit of A road.

Some other minor suggestions.
If you want more away-from-cars and to stay off the sometimes busy Ferry Road, here is a minor detour:

If you have time, can goto Arne for a dip. -

Thats a shame, Whiteways is my favourite climb! plenty of other good views.
I've not ridden through from West Holme to E Lulworth but looks as if they are bridleways, I tend to stick to my road bike round there. Although I'm not sure you can ride through Lulworth Castle grounds, easy detour if not! -
• #27548
Cool, you make a very cute and useful bicycle.
(If my partner wasn't all I don't need more than one bike I'd ask you for a discount ;-))Edit, just checked the German online market place thing, and there are two people looking for a test ride, one in Hamburg one in Darmstadt. The one in Darmstadt might be looking for a date though.

A great help, thanks!
I hadn't looked at Arne before, looks nice.
Not with me buying Di2 like it's cans of lager.
