  • I mostly enjoy the challenge of doing something useful with the meagre resources you find in any given cache, so the ones on that sub which show the same improv spirit appeal most to me. Many of the caches in the Depths, foe example, have a wing but no obvious way to get it off the ground. That said, despite having only done one mini boss (the one above Rito), I've explored most of the Depths and just fully populated the cells on my charger belt accessory thing, so maybe it time to experiment a bit more.

  • Have you FULLY populated them? I.e. not just the first 8, but the second 8 (so they're blue rather than green)?

And a way to get the fan off the ground - lift it into the air with ultrahand (those zonai engineering stashes are usually on raised platforms which helps). Then lower it towards you. Recall. Hop on as it carries you up and you float on your merry way. You can also stock up on wings from dispensers and when your wing runs out mid flight (they have a limited lifespan based on distance travelled it seems), you can just pop another one and paraglide onto it and continue flying.

I've discovered construct heads recently which, with a beam emitter on top of them and the pairing used in place of a headlight on my hoverbike, make for a fun way to kite big bosses in the depths.

  • Apple farming:

    1. ultrahand 19 apples and 1 golden apple together.
    2. save it to your autobuild.
    3. run through an orchard with it equipped.
    4. reap the harvest.
    5. wish they were mighty bananas instead.

Still a bag full of simmered fruit is nothing to sniff at.

Oh, that's a thing? I was feeling guilty when the cell construct guy built my last cell and said "I will enjoy talking to you again".

I know the uktrahand/recall trick but improvising launchers is a fun challenge.

  • the egg farms are wild.

wish the game had a higher difficulty to incentivise you to actually build more combat stuff, but at least the stuff I've encountered so far doesn't require it. I did make something for the boss of the zora area which helped a lot but describing it would be too spoilery and I can't be bothered to try more different things to get spoiler tags to work here. I like having vehicles tho, sadly makes horse riding feel moot and I liked feeling like I had a relationship with my horse (named dave) in botw.

  • I miss horses :(

    And the master cycle :(

  • Recall is under rated.

There's a certain very tedious shrine, where the solution obviously involves a lot of bodging things together to cross big, treacherous areas. Cross one area and you only have to do it again, only bigger; mess up at any time and you'll just have to reload and start from scratch. Went to bed thinking "Hmm, I'll leave that for another day". Woke up thinking "Hang on.. surely not?" Yup. One recall, 90% of the shrine skipped.

  • I've discovered Chivalry 2 is free on PS+, I've been having a great time chopping heads off then dying to an arrow to the knee.

  • Assumed this was just life outside of London until I remembered the thread title.

  • you're a bag of simmered fruit

  • Streetfighter 6 has me making the swap over to the ps5 I’ve kept in storage for the last 6mths/year or so. About to try and copy over my save files, so I can finish off those ps4 games that I haven’t played forever.
Thinking I might buy the digital versions so I don’t have to keep putting in the discs..

  • SF6 launch has prompted a PSN discount on Street Fighter 30th anniversary edition.

So I bought that for £9.

    Street Fighter (1987)
Street Fighter II: The World Warrior (1991)
Street Fighter II: Champion Edition (1992)
Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting (1992)
Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers (1993)
Super Street Fighter II: The Tournament Battle (1993, Switch exclusive)
Super Street Fighter II Turbo (1994)
Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors' Dreams (1995)
    Street Fighter Alpha 2 (1996)
    Street Fighter Alpha 3 (1998)
Street Fighter III: New Generation (1997)
Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact (1997)
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike (1999)

Should keep me busy for a few days

  • Tons of exciting stuff right now
FF7 remake part 2 looks incredible and I can't help but think how amazing a FF8 remake would be too.

FF16 demo on PS5 now available and it releases in a couple of weeks

Xbox Showcase just happened. Eveyerhing seems to be going to gamepass day 1. Payday 3 looks good fun. There's a new Fable with a giant Richard Ayoade. Star Wars Outlaws could be very good but I'm reluctant to get hyped with the history of SW games. Flight Sim has a Dune DLC which could be cool. CP2077 DLC. Avowed which looks more like a moden Fable than actual Fable.

  • Yep, looking forward to Starfield and Fable. Hopeful for Star Wars Outlaws and Forza as well, hoping they can make a game as good as FM2 again.

For personal annoyance though they all look to start releasing around the time my 3 years of Game Pass runs out.

  • Oh yeah Starfield, meh. Lots of people looking at planets in the distance, nothing actually happening.

  • Hopeful for the new fable. really loved those games when I was younger.

  • Actually I'd missed the gameplay trailer for Starfield, could be pretty good, when they eventually release a 60fps version of it.

  • TOTK.

Completed the battery so thought I'd try something out other than two fans and a steering stick. Went and spend 50 large zonaite charges in dispensers and just messed around with the random drops.

Put a homing cart on the ground. Put a stabiliser on either side so it can't be flipped easily. Put a frost emitter on top of the cart. Put a beam emitter in front of the cart. On top of the frost emitter put a big wheel on its side. On the big wheel, put 8 beam emitters, evenly spaced. Save it as a favourite. Carry it to anything taller than a bokoblin. Hit it. Run.

Hinox, frox, moblin, molduga, boss bokoblins, even lynels. The only thing it struggled with is a gleeok because it kept flying off. But im going to experiment with construct heads between the wheel and each beam emitter... Costs 42 zonaite, so if you've got a surplus....

  • Why does it need 60fps?

  • Because 30fps is ass

  • The FF16 demo is so good. Such a world away from FF15, and I liked 15. The gameplay is tight, combat feels great, lots of tech to get in to and customisation. Graphics are perfect, impressive vistas and no dodgy textures on smaller things like Cloud's door in FF7R. And the storyline, so good, so gripping. I love how they put out a trailer, a demo and have the release date just 2 weeks later. So hyped.

  • Very much looking forward to this also. Looks great.

  • I haven't used constructs much against monsters, mostly for puzzle solving, but the homing carts are fun. Used one in the big pirate ship under the island in the far SE corner. Also, although I fought three of the four regional bosses in entirely conventional fashion, the sludge boss looked like being a pain, so I put a template for homing-cart with hydrant on the front and construct-head+beam-emitter on top. Dropped one in the first stage, another in the second stage. Death by roomba (well, assisted by roomba), very satisfying.

Inspired. Wish I knew about them when doing that slippery bastard.

I've seen some mucktoroks in the depths actually so may try this out.
