  • It wasn't super difficult - just time consuming getting started making sure that's it's centered and straight!
Not the kindest on your knees and back either - I don't think I'd chose to be a flooring installer!

  • This is looking great! How long until it’s finished?

  • Can’t wait to see more of this - how long you guys got now ?

  • Steel Panther! What a band

  • I found this really hard, which is why I asked @dbr to help after seeing some seats he made for a garden in Hackney. I love ours, the larch has been a bit of a pita with some kinda spores or summit which make it a bit speckled. But I just sand it and oil it and looks good.

That said the Palissade bench is dead good, we’ll likely get one this summer to go with table, stools and bench.

Was toying with the idea of getting a couple of these https://www.twentytwentyone.com/products/hay-gerrit-rietveld-crate-lounge-chair

  • A lifetime supply of Felt floor protectors !!

  • Good price on that for something to sit on. Have you seen these guys? a little more refined, a little more spendy.

Having our rotten deck ripped up tomorrow and replaced with something less bouncy + outdoor kitchen space etc, firing some cheap ikea corner sofa nonsense at it (and grillskar for the kitchen if I ever get a stock alert 🙄); that’s our beachhead into claiming the garden. Then we’ve got the sundowner spot (2 × some kind of chair like the gabion one or your crate), and a bench at the end to be engulfed by wildflower meadow. Should give us something to enjoy over the summer while we continue to resent the house. If the summer ever gets here.

  • Moving in next week, there will be plenty of snags but it’ll be a functioning home.

  • Yeah they’re nice, think they have those at the 2021 showroom…I like the price/design element of the Hay hobbies, look suitably utilitarian.

Garden sounds like a great plan - really want a proper outdoor kitchen. Ours won’t get much attention until 2024 but I can still plan it in my head.

I can recommend one of those freestanding hammocks - not the coolest looking but an absolute vibe to chill in on a warm evening.

  • Ha. My boy would love that. My wallet and wife less so. I'll stick with our green weedbed

  • how do I see more of your renovation without trawling this entire thread @dbr? do you have a tumblr?

  • Not posting too much on my work insta but there’s some on there, as it gets nicer!

Some on our builder’s insta too

Put the stainless worktop on today, it looks so sick.

  • Ah I follow you there, great inspiration and ideas!

  • Awesome cheers

  • Any recommendations for a proactive Approved Building Control Inspector for smaller scale work? My guy has gone to ground!

  • A lot of useful information, thank you very much, now I will choose how to make my own bathroom of these options.

  • Ikea kitchen and appliances ordered and due to be delivered on 14th April.
Our builder, plumber and electrician all keep threatening to send quotes but haven't managed to get anything written yet. To some extent, I don't really care what it costs, just want to get it done to a good standard.
Good people are pretty hard to find and obvs very busy. I find managing the trades the hardest :)

  • The tiler we used for bathrooms did a great job and is coming back to help with downstairs WC. Works slightly weird hours of 7am - 1pm but wasn’t an issue for us

  • woah - that's lush. glad you have the correctly monochrome products too. such a relief ;-P

  • dunno what you mean by proactive - i've used Stroma without issue. does seem like they do less for their money than they used too tho.

  • Before and after photos, please!

Our kitchen re-fit is starting next week. The work is almost double the price of the cabinets, but like you, I just want it done well. Here's hoping!

  • 7am-1pm is the dream work day, is it not?

Lush bathroom btw, is that a Flos light?

  • Anyone got a moodboard/pintrest of bathroom sink/mirror/lights area? Looking to replace an ugly sink/drawers unit in a dark corner with something a bit nicer.

  • Don't regret it. Dark brown floors simply show up different coloured dirt.

  • Garden bench follow-up—
    Vestre Briskeby looks tidy.
