  • All good points. I think I'll try them the other way..

  • Just fitting a bagman.. Is this something anyone else would worry about regarding the min/max markers? I ask as someone who broke the rails on a saddle very recently.

  • How much do you weigh vs what your saddlebag is likely to weigh?

  • Does anybody have or use one of the Carradice handlebar bags? I like the look of the Keswick, but worried buckles might be a faff. Wondering if a super c might be more practical in use?

  • My Keswick has pop fasteners on the buckle straps, so you set the length dependent on content then pop open and closed.

  • I used to use a super C bar bag, but I found it sits too high above the bars.

I always plan to move the mount further up, but never get around to it.

Depending where you are, the Swift Paloma is excellent, or the BigXTop Rando bar bag is also great.

  • Nice. Thanks all, sounds like the Keswick could be a goer then. Do they need to be used with the handlerbar mount or could they be used with a rando rack type thing?

  • I can’t say for sure, but it’s certainly designed for the Carradice mount. I think you might lack a few mounting points/straps to secure to a rack.

  • I have a swift Paloma to sell if you want

  • Ooh. Pm’d!

  • Looking for some advice please. I want to use a bike packing bar bag (now called a Baja apparently...) on my bike that has canti brakes. The strap patch that fits around the head tube sits up against the cable. Any suggestions on how to secure it without rubbing against the cable? The only thing I can think of is get some more foam spacers and cutting a channel though then for the cable, if that makes sense?

  • You can

    1. get a fork mounted cable stop
    2. Use a piece of shock cord to replace the strap and angle it up above the cable hanger

  • The shock cord seems like it would work. I'll give that a try thanks.

  • A piece of brake cable outer over the inner between the cable hanger and yoke, cut the outer about 10mm shorter, should stop any wearing issues.

  • Good idea; thanks!

  • You're welcome.

  • Done this lots. Works quite well.

  • Before I order new ones; does anyone have and handlebar spacers that they don't need anymore and would be willing to post?

  • Such a shame carradice doesn't make a decaleur or sth, the foam spacers just seem like a half-solution

  • Soft handlebar bags that just hang are quite tricky as far as I can work out as they'll sit differently on every bike depending on the cable layout. It does feel like there should be a simple solution to get them to stand off the headtube slightly.

  • I think they are pretty close with their quick release system if they just made a version that can go
around the headtube, or even an adapter with 2 prongs that it could be mounted to instead of the seat rails.

  • Maybe this? https://restrap.com/products/bumper-bar

Edit: although maybe not great with cantis.

  • Any feedback on the Carradice Keswick handlebar bag? I'm looking forward to buy it, but i've never owned a Klickfix system and i'm afraid it's gonna be too cumbersome or it's gonna slide on rougher roads (not necessarily when overloaded)

  • It's similar to the Super C. The Kilckfix is excellent, once fitted correctly mine never moved at all with the cable under the stem.

The one thing about Carradice bar bags is they sit quite high on the bars. I ended up manually moving mine lower down so it sits flush (ish) with the bars.
