is it tender to the touch? Same shoes as normal? Have you tried rolling the bottom of foot with a trigger point ball?
-
• #28928
nope, not tender to touch, and yeah, shoes i've had for about 100km now
i'll give the trigger point thing a go

I got this in Sunday, almost like my shoes were too tight but I think it's just a sprain (according to my reading of the NHS website). Or gout.

How is your miles per week? Have you increased or anything?
-
• #28932
Yeah I mean my shoes weren't too tight, but it felt (and still feels) exactly like that
-
• #28933
Personally I wouldn't worry too much about it - sounds like it could have been something minor (like too tight shoes or a slight roll of ankle). If there's no bruising or tenderness then just keep an eye on it next few days.

gout would normally present in toes afaik

First proper gym session in about a year today. Been consistent with doing stuff on my very minimal/light weight home set up, but oh my DAYS going to feel that one in the morning 😂
Was really great to be able to lift heavy again though (“heavy” being an incredibly relative term)

update on the foot - increasingly convinced it is a stress fracture. How it happened I've no idea but it definitely has a similar feeling to when i've broken things in my foot in the past. Bloody annoying.

It's free, and there is a kids 1 mile race starting at (I think, but check first!) 12.30pm
I'm not running, or walking unaided, but I'm trying to talk the family into doing it. Might see you there, I'll be on crutches

Looks great, I'm already committed in Epping Forest for the Orion 15 mile XC.
-
• #28945
Which is also great. If you haven't done it before, hold back a bit for the first 5 miles

Got my dates mixed up,Orion 15 is next weekend. New race to me and cheers for the advice.

First 5k for about 5 months. Didn't feel too terrible, but I was trying to keep my HR right down which helped, plus it was a nice flat run.
353 this week, 355 next week, then finally back to 3 x 5k runs, from there I'll extend one run by 1km a week until it hits 10km (early May), and try and keep doing 5k, 5k, 10k until I get down to under 90kg (mid-August in the current plan) and then one of the 5k runs becomes my intervals session.
I miss my usual 10k run.

Nice writing! And the feelings you outline are not especially unfamiliar to me as a recent adoptee of a forerunner
ran a 10km on sunday, normal run, no issues
at some point yesterday my foot started hurting, for no apparent reason - no impacts or awkward landings.
I can put weight on the foot no problem but lifting the foot off the ground and rotating it causes pain all along the top of the foot. No visible swelling or bruising.
Anyone have any idea what might have caused this?
