  • I'd like to do a non-ungabunga, no spirit summons run.

Same, enjoyed my ruins greatsword build at the end of my last play through. Although non spirits summons sounds difficult!

  • yeah. I think I will just not do Mohg. I was stuck on him for like 8 hours and that was with the mimic tear summon and the specific tear for him. I didn't go to the halligtree in my playthrough as well as I felt "done" with the game so would like to explore there and actually tackle malenia.

Perhaps a run knowing where to go (I looked stuff up as little as possible in my first run) will mean less time spent and thus more capacity to explore more content.

  • Metroid Prime on Switch as good or better even than the OG Game cube game, an all time classic.

Started it and got completely hooked once I sorted the controls to suit.

Was totally ahead of its time in the day. Still is

  • All a bit flowery but I’m happy to see an update about the new Test Drive Unlimited. Not sure if it had already been announced but looks like Hong Kong is the setting too https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1249970/view/3639508923218266317

  • PS5 Hogwarts Legacy has me hooked. I don't even like RPGs, what is happening. I think it's the collecting and dopamine drip feed of rewards.

  • My wife is loving Hogwarts legacy, and it does have fantastic graphics and decent combat. The endless collecting of various items though feels gratuitous.

  • Elden ring is more fun (although the world is drastically more depressing 😂)

  • I watched playthroughs of both Last of Us games on youtube because of the tv show and it was such an incredible experience I'm still thinking about it 2 weeks later. I'm constantly watching videos of the 2nd game on youtube. The museum spaceship scene is such a beautiful moment, I've watched it dozens of times and still get teary-eyed.

I just ordered a new graphics card and CPU so I can play the first one when it comes out at the end of the month on PC. I haven't played a new game since the late 00s/early 10s but this really made me want to try out what's out there.
I've also been recommended God of War, RDR2 and Horizon Zero Dawn now that I'll be able to run newer games. Any other recommendations for recent single player story driven games that I might have missed out on this whole time?

  • I've played consoles since I was a kid so not being able to save and having to start over again is my memories of playing NES games.

As I've got older I just don't fancy spending all my free time failing, it feels too much like real life. I don't think Elden Ring is for me.. 😅

Also having a sheet of paper with all the passwords scribbled down. Good times

  • Much more "story" and much less "game" but all of the Life is Strange games (except before the storm) are really good IMO.

  • Jet Set Willy on the Spectrum.

Tape load, so 30 minutes of scsssscrrreeeeeshhssccreeebdngdngbdngbdngscreeee.

Then being asked to key in a code of 8 colours that you look up on a grid of 20 x 20 8 colour blocks on a sheet of paper inside the tape box.

The colours, of course, have faded over time, and blues and green, red and browns, all loom the same.

Time for some scsssscrrreeeeeshhssccreeebdngdngbdngbdngscreeee again then.

  • Yeah, but 40 years ago I wasn't allowed to use google.

  • oh was written like you'd pulled the speccy out the loft and was trying to play it.

  • Ha - fuuuuck no. I did play it a few years back on some sort of flash emulator though.

I was still shit at it.

  • I haven't seen this comic for maybe 10 years, can you remind me of the name so I can spend my evening reading through from #1 please?

  • Penny Arcade. Not been on my reading list for years, either, but some of the good ones stick in my mind.

  • Looking for Xbox One Wireless Controller.

Preferably new (doesn’t need to be boxed) or with very little use.

    Thanks

  • Loving the series, but reading this reaaaally makes me want to play as well.

  • The Penny Arcade games were pretty fun as well.

  • more story and less game sounds great. Episode 1 is free on steam, will give it a try

    I ended up buying:
    Detroit Become Human
    Last of Us Part 1
    God of War
    RDR2
    Horizon Zero Dawn
    Ori 1
    Ori 2

so glad I decided to upgrade my pc rather than buying a ps5, it's crazy how much cheaper games are on pc. This whole thing cost me a bit more than 90€
