• The 'My history' and 'Voonga vonge' eps, both from 98 are favourites of mine...but IG Culture is pretty much the main man behind New Sector Movements so I'd check out his stuff in general. He's always had his own unique style, much like Kaidi Tatham.

  • Proper blast from the past. I used to work in a music PR company whose office was above Goya distribution and IG’s studio was next door to Goya.
IG has a no compromise attitude to music, doing what he wants with no thought for commercial gain, music for the head and body but no interest in watering it down or trying to make it easier for people to grasp.

IG was always the most serious and righteous of the whole broken beat scene whereas Kaidi was a wildcard. IG has carried the bruk sound since those days.

There was a period where Co-Op felt like the most exciting place to be in London on a Sunday evening, first at the Velvet Rooms and then at Plastic People. IG was fierce in his selections but occasionally would show his lighter side, huge smiles and often leaving the booth when he wanted to dance! Tracks would evolve over time, different edits and mixes would get played as people refined their work. Wild complicated music for the heads, fuzing jazz, techno, house, drum and bass, hip hop and sound system culture. Fuck me the roll call of people who played and attended Roy Ayers, Domu, Alex from Tokyo, Colin Lindo, Titonton Duvante, Dego… we had folks who would fly in from Switzerland, Germany, USA and Japan.

Marcus da Intalex, Phlash and Modaji RIP
