They’re less forgiving. If the back box moves over time, which it inevitably does, the slimline switches don’t mask that very well.
I don’t see the MK metal in white very often, but I’m not sure why as they are very Ulm-y. I’m a big fan. YMMV

What are the forum approved switches and sockets that aren't standard white plastic?
Schneider.

These are lovely for a period property - shame they don’t seem to have UK plug sockets

Similar with UK plug

We’ve gone with standard sockets, but using these for switches.

Recently got these new bedside tables but they’re a bit too small for the lamps so I’d like some new lighting
Anyone know of any similar but a bit smaller? These are about 25-30cm diameter, and from IKEA so ideally something <£100 though i suspect this is a big ask.
Most I’ve found so far are well over that price

How small do you want? What about just a tabletop bulb holder in the material of your choice, and then a sphere opal bulb from Tala

Wall mounted? Not necessarily exactly these, but we got small tables because of the narrow space on the far side.

What are the little Hay mushroom lamps called - they have a small footprint?

There loads, Pao, PC portable, Turn on.. Not much change from £100 though if any from any of them.

Ah, yes. Just had a look...
Edit - Hay Turn-On is £80 at END, if you like the Shiny Alu finish: https://www.endclothing.com/gb/hay-turn-on-lamp-4004531109000.html?awc=17184_1677147462_ef9ceab1b28b4012748a33e519fc42a4&utm_source=awin&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=RedBrain+Ltd

Cheers folks!
My partner is open to wall lamps but I'm generally pretty averse. I can't really get on with the dangling cables and don't have the stomach/wallet to go chasing into walls at the mo.
We like the Hay Pao and PC and have found both for around £100, but they both seem to have the switches on the bottom which is a bit of a turn off (no pun intended).
&Tradition also have a couple of nice options but they're past the £100 mark. Maybe I need to adjust my expectations a bit.

I'm actually using a PC portable as a bedside light at the moment and loving it. As long as you only need it for ambient light, because it's completely cableless it's so easy to pick up and turn on/off and it's great to be able to move it when necessary. I'm constantly tempted to get one/a couple more.
I think the table versions of the PC have inline switches...

Not sure why these portable interior side lights have become so popular, lots of the nice designers, Hay/&tradition etc all have many portable side lights.
Do people really want/need to move side lights around inside all the time? And can be bothered with the admin of charging them all the time?

switches on the bottom
Put book down switch light off sounds good to me. I dislike the fumbling for switches on cables.

Cuboluce could be fun on the kartell columns.
Switches on when you lift the lid I think.

you would have to wait a while for delivery but the &tradition lamps are these from aliexpress for about a score
also the mushroom ones are about a fiver. -

They’re quite handy though - you don’t have to want to move them around all the time to benefit from it being easy to do that the few times you do.
or MK Edge if you like the slimline look
