  • That really is very good. Hints of Piet Mondrian about it.

  • Thanks! Upholstered by my m8 Sally

  • GBI LTD (glass blocks) is his company nameđź‘Ť tell him Pat sent you!

  • It’s a really nice fabric, it’s on the kitchen Reno moodboard now.

  • Would really appreciate unbiased opinions on this house from strangers on the internet.

  • Floorplans, above link from the managing architects has more pictures, but only the planners have the floorplans online.

  • Looks exactly the sort of dead-tech, post-modernistic, bullshit house I would aspire to live in one day.

  • I can guarantee it’ll be far too big and will have a pointless fireplace.

  • Personally I like it, but has too many rooms and I couldn’t live in a house that has two sinks in the bathroom. I real deal killer for me. Either step up and do twin bathrooms or don’t bother.

  • It's cool, in a bond villain kind of way.

  • FFS. Just remembered I ticked the box that said "Yes I will have recorded all my CPD by the end of the year" when I paid ARB... Obviously I haven't. Guess I know what I'm doing for the next couple of hours! Anyone else?

  • Yep! I'm chartered too but only registered in Q4 so had to do the whole RIBA CPD programme in two months.

  • Ah, I gave up RIBA years ago, too expensive...

  • Thanks for the replies regarding the concrete house.
My father and his second wife just built that, haven’t seen it yet.
I call it the boomer bunker. Apart from the fact that I think concrete is somewhat over I really don’t like it. Floorplan way to complicated and inflexible, loads of design decisions that are unecessary and make it really expensive to build.
    Plus dark ceiling and floors.
Also it sits on a plot with a view of a pig farmer. My sister said the amount of flies was incredible.
They had a very nice house in more or less the same location. Also concrete, situated in a bigger development with direct access to nice walks and a bus to the city centre every 10 minutes. Now they are still in a suburb/village but the nice walks start farther away and the bus only runs twice per hour. Which my teenage half siblings will surely appreciate.
But I guess if you have to prove something building a house is the done thing.

  • The roof/barge board is a bit overwhelming

  • This further context merits posting the clip

  • Yeah my firm takes care of my reg. I’m assuming they ticked the box but I have neither done nor “recorded” any cpd as yet. Eek

  • You will have done, just need to write a couple sentences for each - can include "peer discussion"! I ended up chucking in a few books as well ("self-directed learning"). Read/looked at anything/ spoken to anyone to update yourself on building safety act / principal designer?

  • It is. Think it’s a green roof, this plus modern insulation makes it not exactly as elegant as the roof on a case study house.
