Not everyone liked the QS "upgrade". You should use a (non) QS shifter with the matching (non) QS front mech.

You can swap the good condition lever blade onto the QS body by knocking the pivot pin through

Never knew this thread existed, that's a life of Shimano groupsets for you. If I want to fit a triple chainset to a Chorus 10 speed group, do I need to make any adjustments? Like specific shifter or long reach mechs?

You can use a medium cage, tho a long reach would likely work better. Just make sure there is enough chain length in the setup to allow a big / big combo if you happen to shift to that at some point. What cassette gearing will u use? Some say a 29 will work with a medium cage in this setup tho i havent tried.

I'm guessing you're going to need a BB with longer axle than one for a double too.

I vaguely recall Campag suggest the medium cage mechs were OK for up to 26 teeth on the back cassette, tho as mentioned above I have heard of people with 29 teeth on the rear that have made it work.

My previous recent record here has not been great so don't take what I say as gospel :)

@user75204 thanks very much for the replies, forgot to mention the wider bb, that's the one thing I was aware of.

It's for a touring bike so feels like a triple set-up would be appropriate, but just working out how best to source the parts if going that route. A compact might be enough in reality.

Useful to know about rear cog limitations with a medium reach mech. After more Googling it appears 1992 thru 2008, all ERGO were double and triple :)

The left ergo itself has lots of tiny shifts, not just 2 or 3 positions.

Campagnolo website is pretty good for technical and user manuals for all sorts of groupsets. I'm not sure if they go that far back, but worth a look. Retrobike used to archive a lot of Campagnolo catalogues too that might be worth a look

How many gears and what colour group? Athena 11 is decent value and you'll find parts in either black or silver.

Front derailleur for triple is slightly different too. The inner plate of the cage is larger than the one on a double front derailleur.

It sounds like you know your stuff ! I've never thought about it, but given that the tooth difference is less between rings for a triple (!?), in a pub quiz, I would have answered that the inner plate might even be smaller. Either way, if it were Shimano, below 105, it would rub on one plate or the other - lol.

I know because I just sold a partial triple Centaur/Chorus groupset I had in the attic to a fellow forum'er. If in desperate search for something triple from Campa, give me a yell, @jambon . I have some spares left: Veloce triple 9 speed crankset, brifters and medium/long cage rear derailleur, Centaur 10 speed triple front.
