  • This is really calling to me...

  • Love them. They'll be a cult classic one day.

description all in caps though - avoid!

  • @Sheppz this one is a Cat S, so has been written off for insurance purposes but repaired. You'd need specialist insurance for it which is a bit of a black box for future costs.

  • Why that over a Fabia estate or Octavia?

  • I have never sold a car, but need to do so soonish. What's the best way to value and sell?

  • saw one - sparked joy - not that one tho. Fabia estate is intersting if my numbers be right its shorter than a golf and has 150lt more boot space.

  • Ye I'm eyeing it up for that exact reason.

'If you want a supermini-sized car that can carry 530-litres of luggage in the boot, your choice narrows down to one - this car.'

  • I have this, the 2012 one got it for £2100 with 98k on clock. Excellent car.

  • Going by taxi drivers around here its a Toyota Corolla touring

  • Just found a '14 Honda civic estate in my budget which looks good 👍

  • They'll be a cult classic one day.

    Aren't the original ones already?

  • Nice. I’m tempted by a yeti in Southend….

  • What's the best way to value and sell?

To value, look on Auto Trader for what the make and model and similar mileage are advertised at. Selling privately you will need to discount by 10% from what dealers are charging.

For where to sell, depends on the value.

    High end, use Motorway.com

Mid-range, use Auto Trader (and/or Pistonheads.com especially if it is a sporty or prestige model)

Banger territory, list on eBay with a brutally honest description and a 7-day no reserve auction. Be prepared to weed out timewasters though.

Tell us what you are looking to sell and we can advise more. EDIT: post in the actual car thread will get more responses

  • a yeti in Southend….

    Sounds like my ex-girlfriend

  • What's the honda jazz of the estate/people carrier market. I'm thinking Mondeo, Octavia, C-max, v70. What are the good Japanese options?

FYI Octavia is more Golf sized. But yes, that's probably the Jazz's spiritual cousin. Superb is bigger like a Passat . I think the Mazda 6 is definitely worth a look.

  • I can tell you where not to buy a car … Evans Halshaw in Milton Keynes.

At the end of September last year, I bought a 2018 Ford Kuga. 16,000 on the clock. In the 3 months I’ve owned it, I’ve discovered the rear heated windscreen has never worked, it’s failed to start 3 times due to the battery constantly draining, it has a terrible condensation and damp problem and upon opening the bonnet a couple of days ago, I found 2 bags of mushed up padding stuffed down both sides of the engine. Not bad for I believed to be a reputable car dealer. I didn’t take out an additional warranty as I was buying a 4 year old car from a well know dealer.

I’ve lodged a complaint and asked for my money back but I think I already know the outcome. Trustpilot here I come.

  • Anyone wanna buy a Forester? I didn't do any racing last year so it's basically a garden shed with wheels.

OO def interested in Forester, depends on price etc. Feel free to PM me details, pictures or whatever you have

  • skoda yeti - discuss

I've got a 2l 4x4 diesel. Pre-facelift. Good cars, not super-cheap to run as they're a pretty hefty brick, but otherwise very practical, quite fun.

  • Toyota made a good looking Prius and UK isn't selling it.

  • At first I was like: Hey i liek that.
    But quickly I was bored.

  • This was the answer in the end btw - picking up an auris tomorrow. It’s white which is utterly idiotic but there was no choice.

  • I'm not an ad tech expert but I'm not sure how me searching for a £5k Honda Jazz on Autotrader gets my Instagram feed stuffed with ads for Bentley, Mercedes AMG and Porsche EVs.
It's not money well spent IMO.

  • That list looks about right. Add in Honda Accord (and maybe the CRV).

I was looking a 2012 Mazda 6 before Xmas. My mechanic mentioned the repair costs are slightly above average when compared to Ford or Honda, but as a brand they're generally ok. However that particular model I was looking at has a known engine issue

  • Currently in the process of buying an Octavia estate (mk2 from 2011) and it certainly got a lot of good reviews at the time. The boot is cavernous.

I'm going to, briefly, own two cars for a bit before I get round to selling my old Fabia. Maybe a week or two. Does this mean I can't use my No Claims Discount on the Ovtavia, as everything says you can't use a NCD on two policies at once. Although transferring is possible, I think this only works if you sell the old car in part exchange or in advance of the buying the new car, so you don't own two for any time at all? Annoying if correct.
