  • Do you put anything onto the leather of yours? I just wipe ours with a damp cloth.

  • Nothing ever, I always mean to treat it with something but have never got round to it. Plus it basically looks fine still (though got a puppy recently so this may change soon).

  • Sekforde St EC1, December 21… got to be worth somebody’s time?

  • Looking for a side board or chest of drawers to store our overflowing craft stuff. We were using a 70s drinks leafed(?) table and some hidden in/out trays, but it's just too small/inefficient.

My OH has said the market has changed and all the furniture we were buying for £20-100 is now ~£500.

Does anyone have any suggestions of where to look? I'm not adverse to spending a few hundred, but reticent to spend more for something holding craft stuff that kids will fuck up. Also I really struggle with the idea of spending a reasonable amount of money on cheap shitty quality furniture - which is what seems to be on offer at the moment.

What's the ikea one that people mod/hack?

  • IVAR pine cabinet. ? The metal IDASEN office cabinet was something we looked at - KOLBJÖRN is what we got. Needs boxes / containers inside to keep stuff organised.

  • Get on FB MarketPlace. I picked up a 204cm sideboard for £150 just before xmas.
Warning: you have to sort through a lot of shit

  • I <3 IVAR

  • Cheers. Those are really good suggestions, especially the ivar - mounting it to the wall looks good.

Ended up going for a 2nd hand HEMNES off FBM for £25 and some anthracite furniture paint.

Turned out not to actually be a HEMNES and slightly different dimensions from the ones quoted. But it's fine tho as the dimensions work better.

We're going to swap round with a gplan chest of drawers in our youngests room.

    I'll post a pic once I'm finished.

  • We were looking at this:

But didn't actually like it that much and didn't want to spend that sort of money on something holding craft stuff thst could ultimately get fucked up. Especially after the oil air freshener incident with our lovely Stag tall boy.

  • Also if anyone is interested in a little drinks leafed drinks table let me know and I'll sort out some pics.

  • Any looking for a small dining table and chairs?

  • We have some white IKEA Kallax - a 5x5 and a 2x4 - going spare in SE London. They'll want carrying down from the third floor, is the snag. They're in OK condition.

  • What you got to replace them?

  • I might be keen on these, how soon do you need to get rid of them?

  • The 5x5 one is going this morning (hopefully - this is about the 6th dibs from FB after all the other folks bailed one by one) but the 2x4 is still up for grabs. Some time this week ideally.

  • Quite like the look of these. My current IKEA chairs are gradually breaking.

How much are you after and whereabouts in north London?

  • best way to give stuff away for free on FB is offer it for £30, wait for someone to lowball you then 'reluctantly' accept as long as they can collect quickly

  • Will drop you a pm as not on here much during the day.

  • Anyone interested in a mid century drinks trolley?

Used to be our drinks storage, then craft storages, but crafts are now out of control so have a chest of drawers.

  • We're all working from home these days, right? At least some of the time?
Then you probably need something to file documents in, but let's be honest, there's nothing attractive about a large metal Bisley filing cabinet.

No, what you need in your life is a lovely oak early to mid 20th century French tambour-fronted cabinet, with plenty of shelf space.

I happen to have two of these for sale at £300 a pop. They have plenty of space for lots of things.
From memory dimensions are width 43cm, height 121cm, depth 36cm
I also have a 1920s German one which is wide and shallow. £250. You can store A4 paper sideways in this. Width 60.5 cm, height 101.5 cm, depth 28.5 cm

    More pictures here.

Let me know if you're interested. You can pick up from West Hampstead and there is parking.

  • Have these got shelves in? Any photos with the doors open?

  • Anyone has any furniture from Toprigg?
