Need to check out The Comet Is Coming's new album, and Tom Skinner's solo effort next (I don't expect anything jazzy there).

I'm hoping Voices of Bishara will be good as it has Nubya Garcia and others on.

I'm well tempted to go to Lady Blackbird and Doomcannon at the Barbican. Why is London such a pain to get trains back from after gigs these days?

and why is Makaya Mccraven the same night? I'm going to that, whilst one of my work colleagues is going Blackbird/Doomcannon.

Anyhoo, highly recommend Lady Blackbird live- she's kinda a Tina Turner/Nina Simone cross, whilst performing in what appears to be a giant beekeepers hat.

It's almost a classic by now.

Received it today and it sounds great.
The music is really good obvs. Good quality pressing too.
Need to get a copy of "Prophecy" and "Trust in the lifeforce..." next and I'll be complete.

Today was also John Coltrane's birthday.

Code is such strong tune.
They played it live at W.O.H. and it blew everyone away.

Listening to Creator Has A Master Plan from the album Karma a couple of days ago. Huge musical talent.

I went to Azerbaijan a couple of months a go, i expected to hear some Arabic/Turkic/Middle Eastern musical vibes but what i didnt expect was it to be so Jazz influenced. I was totally naive, when you read about the former USSR and musical prohibitions.. I was there as Team Mechanic for an International cycling race called 'Dear Susa' - my brief research of the country was centred more around the disputed territory and conflict zone we would be travelling through. Anyhow i'm not a Jazz connosseur but i was drawn into the compositions of pianist Vagif Mustafazadeh, one of his pieces is played on the national Airline whilst boarding etc and is held in highest regard/cultural significance.
