I saw them at The Roundhouse this year, and then they literally announced a few weeks later that after this year's tour was over they wouldn't be performing as Sons of kemet anymore. 😭

I can't wait for the new album to finally be pressed 😍

• #257
Yep, really looking forward to it's release.

I’ll be there, the gig has been pushed back a fair few times due to Covid, brought tickets almost two years ago!
Annoyingly, DoomCannon are supporting Lady Blackbird on the same night elsewhere in London facepalm.gif

Wish I was going, having a day off work, train journey there n back, make a gig rather an expensive experience.
Maybe next time he'll do a few more UK shows (fingers crossed). -

More Jamie Branch. A proper talent, taken far too early

She was supposed to play at We Out Here where I spent this Bk Hol wknd. :(
The vibe at WOH is so good. Very cool festival. Heartily recommend it.
I'll try and put on YT some short clips of various artists I manage to see there.
DoomCannon and Underground Resistance (not jazz) were among the highlights.
Plus Kokoroko obvs. And seeing Pharoah Sanders play live AGE 81! -

Still some tickets available for DoomCannon on Thursday in Brick Lane:

Shit. I would have to leave my bike outside to get there in time after work. 😭
-
• #269
Can anyone recommend anything that has a dark jazz sort of vibe similar to this?

I can't be arsed with festivals and camping anymore #grumpymiddleagedman, however, I was tempted; lineup looked amazing.
Especially as no one seems to want to play Birmingham these days.

I was there too! It was such a great weekend.
Some highlights for me:
Nat Birchall on the main stage Sunday morning. Nice way to start the day
New Regency Orchestra with their 18 piece orchestra included 'Lead dancer' getting the entire crowd following his moves
The Comet is Coming (always great)
Kyoto Jazz Massive - I was expecting a jazz band but turns out it's just a DJ playing great tunes
Ishmael Ensemble
Koreless in the Lush Life stage
Tim Reaper for some old school DnB in the Forest -

The various sets in the Forest/Woodland were really good. At least you had lots of space and some great light effects in the foliage. Shame I missed Tim Reaper's set.
Will definitely go again next year! -

Did anyone catch Nala Sinephro at We Out Here? Interested to hear how Space 1.8 sounds live.

Someone pointed me to this earlier:
https://nimsadot.bandcamp.com/album/felixStreaming now and it sounds bloody great.
Hopefully one for WOH 2023!

Seriously? :o
I'm glad I saw them live at Gala in June.
I wish I could have been at the Love Supreme fest where they played with Nubya Garcia. Anyone went?
