  • Can't really beat exposure lights - expensive but worth it.

I use their Joystick and the Toro.

  • Asked Mike at Switchbacks.com if i could tag along with the group last week of september. Will be on holiday in S Spain and passing through Bubion. Great, ungroomed technical riding, lots of shale, rocks and drops (and gorse bushes) really looking forward to it! No point replacing rear tyre, I’ll just be sliding around anyway.

  • Can anyone recommend any off-road riding spots near Falmouth? Nothing wild required. Just some nice trails to ride, as my partner doesn’t ride regularly.

    Thanks!

  • 4 seconds!

  • Pretty incredible eh?

Amazing run from Henry Kerr, Scottish lad still at Glasgow Uni but represents Ireland now for some reason 🤷‍♀️

  • Thanks @M_V and @PhilDAS it’s sorta done now. Just waiting for some janky dropper and it’s a go.

Geo is completely wrecked. But it wheelies.

  • Corr that rubber looks tight in the front. I think it's only meant for about a 2.3 😁

  • is it designed for an insanely long travel fork?

  • I got a bit drunk last night and had my Geometron with me, thought I'd try this stupid drop test with it. I can confirm that a 36lbs coil-coil 180mm travel bike with Magi-X tyres front and rear bounces pretty wildly, even with all the rebound dialed up, yet with me on it it's the most calm thing ever.

In conclusion, it's a load of bollocks.

  • Absolutely not. Totally fucks with geometry, but it‘a quite fun to throw about.

@PhilDAS if it fits, it sits.

  • Got some tyres for sale if anyone is interested. WTB Rangers, 27.5 x 2.8

  • I know we concluded that steel frames are for hipsters but I'm still super excited about my new project:)
    Thanks for the spring @Dammit

  • Looks nice! Did you spec the geo by yourself?

  • Thanks! Yes I did, I basically wanted it too be like my hardtail but with a bouncy rear end (I even went for the same color).
But it's difficult to compare hardtail and fully geo... I ended up mostly copying the geo of a Bird Aeris AM160 which is long and low and added more stack height.
I'm 6'5 so it probably doesn't make much sense to go for 27,5" again but I wanted to re-use most of my parts.

  • I have lost the QR thru-axle for my Helm, which is super annoying.

It appears to have been discontinued, also.

Can anyone find "Cane Creek D-Loc Bolt-On Axle QR 15mm Gold Helm Air/Coil | Helm MKII Air/Coil" in stock, for a reasonable price?

  • I really hated the qr thru-axle on my mki Helm. It seemed to have an issue with tightening that I never figured out if it was just my fork or if they were all like that.

If you can't find a new axle, they can be converted to use the simpler threaded axle thats in stock at tftuned. Cane creek axle prices are ripping the arse out it though, £80 for a simple axle...

  • Yeah, I’d seen that- I’d prefer to keep the convenience of QR if I can.

  • I have some brand new Rockshox Yari RC 27.5 150mm(I could fit a 170mm air spring if required) forks for sale if anyone is interested?
Paid £300 to crc here a couple of months ago. They are unused but I had fitted a crown race and installed them on the bike, crc wont take a return since I've fitted them.

Change of plan means I'd just like to move them on quickly so looking for £200

  • Chains and drop-stop tooth profiles - are they specific to one another?

Context is that I'm running Kogel jockey wheels in my XX1 mech which are advertised "For SRAM or Shimano" in terms of profile, which would seem to indicate that (at least as it pertains to jockey wheels) the profile is agnostic to the chain used.

More context is that Hope are advertising these jockey wheels which I'm tempted by, not lease because the Kogel ones are an hysterical amount of money.

  • Anyone know what will happen if I run an insert that's too small for the tyre? Cushcore XC (<2.4) in Barzo 2.6"

Also, any suggestions for long sleeve jersey with zipper for hot weather riding but protected arms?
Skinny has suggested a Montane undershirt thing but they're not around in my size it seems. I was thinking meshy old MTB jersey but struggle to find anything that can be zipped open.

  • @Dammit shouldn't be an issue based on experience with various NW chainrings.

@hippy you just might not get as much sidewall support

  • sidewall support

I very much doubt I corner hard enough to need that. I'm mostly interested in reducing tyre issues during ultras, ie. reduce chance of pinching tyre or whatever inserts are meant to help with.

I might just change the front tyre but I can't find smaller Barzos and don't know what else to use. I've already got an Ardent Race 2.35 to go on the back but I was hoping to keep the Barzo 2.6 up front.

  • Do you really want a 2.6 for an Ultra?

insert should do the job for punctures in a slightly wider tyre.

  • Ordered some offset bushings and a nice pike for my neuron. Prepare for broken bones.

  • Nice! What will be the travel of the front and rear?
