After lel I am quite disappointed with the supernova e2 road light and very impressed with the son edelux 2. Does anyone know if I can run the supernova rear light of the edelux 2 front light?

You can, but the standlight won't work.

Any advice on dynamo wires :/, much appreciated
I have tried youtube and google but have found it a bit overwheming.Having never moved my supernova light for years, it's now going on another bike.
And so I need to extend its wires to get to the new dynamo (and also to extend the wiring for the rear light)
It's an E3 triple 2 - to Son hub, (I see they still refuse to do numbered or diagram instructions), what wire and connectors will work?I've also got a new igaro - My previous one went through a pair of shared pair spade connectors with the supernova. Igaro have sent piggy back ones - anyone have any preference (tempted to just have the single pair, as less to go wrong)?
Many many thanks if you can open up this world of confusion to me...

Some next level rear light integration from Victoire:

I’ve had to do similar recently for a Brompton, and used some SON dual core cables (similar to hi fi speaker cable) and just matched the colours between the bits I extended. My supernova cables were red/blue and I just matched them through (and assumed supernova used the same colours for each terminal…)
I’ve never worried about positive/negative to the hub however on SON or shimano hubs, just made sure the contacts are good

Almost any 2-core wire will work fine for a dynamo. The cheapest will probably be whats called bell wire or bell cable. Otherwise look for thin speaker cable.

this(2)?
Number two has some extra lights underneath the main lamp which are meant to make you more visible because they shine upwards, whereas the main beam has a cutoff to stop it dazzling drivers. I think they'll also come on automatically in the day when the main beam is off

Light below are daylight extra lamps. Have them on the lady's bike. Offers safety in busy city environment, but dynamo is then having a bit more drag all the time (minimal but noticeable). But you have a switch to switch off completely. What you cannot do is have the automatic switch to full light while switching off the day lights. It is only about being seen.

Thanks for the info. The second one with the extra lights went up in price so that made my decision a little easier. And the cheaper one is always on so as least I won't have to worry about forgetting to turn on. Not sure how useful daylight mode will be, drivers will still say they didn't see you.

Any recommendations for decent a (not great, not terrible) front and rear light for commuting a route without street lanterns?
Planning on combining it with a Shutter Precision PL-8 hub (3W output, Shimano style two-piece connector).

Busch&Muller or Axa, you cannot really go wrong (or Hermans, trelock).
Light sensor are a great comfort I think ("Sensor" in Busch&Müller, "Auto" in Axa), it switches automatically on at night. Not compulsory but nice.
"Standlight" in Busch & Müller, "Steady" in Axa, is the fact that the light stays on for few minutes when you stop pedalling, I would stay compulsory! (Front and rear).
Daylight options are very much optional, up to you.
20/30Lux is more to be seen in city environment, 80/100 Lux is very nice. And everything in between.
I found the Busch Müller Cyo Premium Senso Plus the best value for money (same as the one in the chat few lines above) https://www.bike24.com/p267802.html?source=SRP&indexName=production_SEARCH_INDEX_EN&objectId=BUS167619&queryId=44ca1a135ab9bdfe73c11d23947f8e3e&userToken=c2cdcd9f-060f-45b4-89d8-dfa5a2dd3caa
on a budget, Herrmans H-Black MR8 (but without sensor)
rear light, approximately everything works but take with Stand light (Starts at 7GBP) ! Some have brake light with a motion sensor (20 GBP ish)

A german guy has tested all of them:

this one is also very similar, in aluminium (black or silver).

I have a Son front hub, Supernova front and rear, what bits and pieces do I need?
-
• #4318
If your front hub has a normal connector, nothing else. Some SON dynamos have specific connectors (SL), but that normally goes with specific frame. https://nabendynamo.de/produkte/sl/
The support of the lamp to the frame has room for variations as the one provided is usually pretty basic (but I think for supernova it is quite ok) e.g. idworx lamp holder, supernova Light Mount Multimount

Depends what connections, if any, are already supplied with the hub/the lights. If it's all new you may well be in luck, if second hand you might need to find bits. Buying connectors is usually literally pennies or few pounds from SJS or other reputable outlets. Buying wire, you just need any coaxial cable but Spa Cycles do it for £2/m.
You'll need appropriate connectors for
1) hub output to the front light
2) front light to rear light. Hopefully these are supplied with the lights.

also jagwire/problemsolvers are selling "frame plugs" if you have the cable going through the frame.
You might want to add: https://tout-terrain.de/en/the-products/components/1820/plug5-pure

Hey there, tried to research but didn't find any specific or extended information on sealing the cables on the hub connector. SP PD8 & B&M IQ XS combination to be specific.
I put on some tape at the ends + shrank some plastic wrapper stuff, but is it enough? I read that B&M light are prone to water damage if they haven't been updated.

Hey there, tried to research but didn't find any specific or extended information on sealing the cables on the hub connector.
You didn't find any because its not a requirement. The fitment to the hub connector (despite being basic AF) is pretty bulletproof without any extra waterproofing. You can always add some tape/sugru etc if you feel anxious, but it's been that design for decades.

Sounds like you’ve done a good job already. I sometimes put a little spot of Vaseline if the wires are very loose in the connector just for peace of mind more than anything.
The waterproofing problems you’ve heard of are at the light end, not the hub end.
