No flippin' way no how I could get 50mm in mine. Forks yes, rear max is 42mm so long as it's knobble free and I don't plan on too much actual pedalling.

Didn’t realise it was possible to dent surly steel. What did you drop on it? Depleted uranium?

The tubing sometimes collapses under its own immense weight

I want a crosscheck but I'm struggling with Surly sizing - not sure whether to go for a 54 or 56. I'm 184cm tall with 85cm inseam and usually I feel more comfortable on sizes 56 but I know Surly does weird sizing. Anyone here with similar height/inseam own a Crosscheck?
EDIT: Actually, now wondering if I should go larger, looks like a 58 would be better...

I'd be considering the 58 if I were you . The 54 is a none starter 100%
My partner has a 58 and they are 6ft too

agreed, 54 no chance, 56 will probably always feel a touch too small.

Thanks, the more I look at the chart the more I feel a 58 would be the right size for me. It also means I'll avoid the ridiculously tiny head tube so that's good.
I'll probably have to use a really short stem though
-
• #2317
Have you got a stack and reach measurement for a bike that you feel comfortable on currently?
Add to that the stem length and seatpost style (inline/layback)

max. without fenders were the mighty conti x/race king 2.0 on some 19 or 20mm (inner)wide rims, but was tight in the back at the chainstays... some 4 years ago, frameset bought new around that year.

I've just added a carbon fork to my MS, highly recommended feels a lot more sprightly

Looks rad! What fork is that? Has it got mudguard eyelets?
Thanks, oof that’s quite a bit wider than I was expecting. 50mm would be great.
