That's a fun one, just get a lump hammer and go at it.

I'm not completely adverse to doing it myself actually, but I'd really like to know that its safe to do so before I begin.

I can at least store all tools here in the living room which are needed, but my wife hates it of course but it’s okey, no stress. What I do hate is the vacuum cleaner, which I need for the router, sander etc. but also in the basement for the table saw. So that’s pack away and get it again all the time. Cycling definitely missing now, I have to stop DIY and get on a ride again.

I had my kitchen and bathroom renovated a few months back. I got a decent amount of info and inspiration from here (yes, that floor is cork) so thought I'd post up some pics. I'm sure we've made loads of design faux-pas and appreciate it isn't going to impress any TMH perverts. But we're really happy. The contractor was great and would recommend to anyone SE looking to get work done - with the caveat that he's cheaper than most, and whilst an absolute joy to work with and have in your house, best not to expect a £100k finish from a £30k operator.

Looks good!
Orange paint for the small bathroom space was brave, think it just about works. Would be interesting to see it in a much lighter hue.

Thanks! We really have no aesthetic sensibility or particular interest in design. We just found things we liked on pinterest and sort of tried to recreate them... 🤣

Google, show me a 90s revival bathroom

Love the bold colour and the edging tiles around the bath. Looks like a massive improvement.

Dont make me post my pink bathroom, again...

I only mentioned the orange as I painted a room partially orange and kind of regretted it!
Colour too strong room too small!

I genuinely have no idea if this is a dig! 🤣 Did bathrooms looks like this in the 90s?

This looks really lovely - we're a few weeks away from being done with ours (cork in the bathroom for us!), though I wish we didn't have option paralysis when it comes to picking colours, think we'll just end up with white everywhere at least at the beginning.

Looks good! Cabinets from where?

• #3417
I wanted to leave you unsure

Ha, yeah, it's really hard when you don't have strong aesthetic opinions. We went punchy in the bathroom and muted in the kitchen/diner.

Never let them know your next move....

Lower cabinets are Ikea carcasses with some sprayed MDF as the frontages. Upper cabinets were made by a mate who does that sort of fabrication professionally. I think eventually we'll swap the lower frontages for the same ply as the paint is chipping rather easily...

The ply cabinets look lovely

Looks great. What are the toilet and make/models?
-
• #3423
Toilet is, apparently, Venice soft close from victorian plumbing...

Did the same person do the steel installation and all that? I'm actually looking at doing the same two rooms so could be keen for a chat

Yeah they did everything. Contractor has done three friend's places now, all happy with him. Feel free to drop me a dm.
Any builder/wall-knocker-downer recommendations for SE/SW? Need a brick built larder removing in a kitchen.
