Haha same here, kind of a standard medium gray just for the background of the showcase and here and there a ,splash‘ of grey.

Nice!

Thanks. It's certainly better than the mid grey I was originally asked to sign off on 😁

I've just sent off my design to see what they come back with
My original plan was to get everything cut at Cutwrights, and have someone fit it all - Will be interesting to see how the prices compare.

this is super cool, looks great!
got any pics of it all done? or is it still a work in progress?
-
• #3384
Please update - I’m in the ‘looking’ phase.

Thanks! Still work in progress, starting the drawers this week.

i see you've routed a channel for a horizontal mid piece (a shelf?) to slide into, do you just use glue and clamps for the bottom of the cabinet?
-
• #3387
Oh that looks great!

This is great work! And I love your approach (which is similar to my approach for EVERY DIY task). I need me a month of Sundays.
Where did you get the plywood from?
-
• #3389
Yes, the shelfs are glued together with dado joints, and also with screws were they are not visible. It should be easy, but there are problems like I have a router bit for 18 and 19 mm, but the plywood is ~ 18,3 – 18,5 mm, so I took the 18 mm router bit and cut away a little bit. On the bottom they are screwed (were not visible) to the base. On the top still missing are, well, top pieces. I don't know why I didn't attached them when it would have been easy.

Oh thanks!

That's true, and then you miss some bike rides because of DIY tasks, at least for me it is like that.
I ordered it at a local retailer, who have lots of decorative panels, but I had to wait for about 3 months until delivery! Or even more, ordered in December '21, got it in March '22.

Anyone served a party wall notice to Hackney Council or Clarion Housing Association? Do they descent by default?
-
• #3394
I know at least one of their building inspectors is a bell. I pray that's not the department that deals with party wall notices.
-
• #3395
Ahhhh it was you, sorry!
-
• #3396
I haven't with Hackney, I have with Haringey who told me that they decline everything by default. They used their own surveyor for the Party Wall agreement who didn't charge that much (less than half what the other neighbour's charged me) and it all went smoothly once I managed to get someone at the council to respond.

Do you have to do the get-your-tools-out/pack-everything-away dance each day? FML. I'd hate to count up those hours. Would be a great cycling holiday.

• #3398
OK that doesn't sound too bad. A lot more money and effort than just getting my neighbours to sign a letter like last time though.
-

It cost me about an extra £1,200 five years ago.

Yeah I had that issue, my neighbours a mentalist, disputed our extension and cost us 2K. She did the same the other side with their loft, cost them 2K.
Cant wait to get our loft done.
No idea. Wish they’d got to this house sooner, the others in the exclusive development we are part of are lovely.
God I hate this house.
