@LonelyFromage - I think you have found your little bit of feedback on your price...
Seriously though, you could get 3 of these for that cash. 3 grand is just poking us for an internet pile-on really, unless it was a genuine typo with an extra "0". But IMO, even that is a bit steep (happy to stand corrected - Edit: and I will be with some of those parts + hippy's link below, so what do I know?).
GLWS (you might need it, if you were serious + if not, enjoy your popcorn)

Are these things collectable to some people?

I wonder who/where they got their starting price from?

With the interesting use of personal pronouns, I'm wondering if this is some kind of elaborate troll.

Damn I heard primrose hill was pricey but still

The White Industries cranks and wheels will add some value to this, but you're still way, way off I am afraid.
Here's one complete, with full Shimano XT (better than those grip shifters on yours) for $430.00....

Thanks for the feedback, guys! I did mean it when we said we wanted to hear thoughts on the price and consider lowering it, so fair enough. I think @hippy got it right in that it's a niche vintage bike, so price estimates are hard to come by and its value is subjective. Schwinn 1995 Homegrowns are not listed or sold often, and plus, we've heard from multiple interested bike mechanics who are familiar with these models that it'll be worth lots to some and not to others. Often, when we bring it into the shop or ride it around, people will take photos of it and say similar things.
We've seen comparable price estimates on Bikepedia: ([1] https://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?item=32639; [2] https://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?item=32640). Like the link from @hippy, frames alone are listed and sold for hundreds of pounds (1995 bare frame listed here https://www.ebay.com/itm/224555565293?hash=item34488e00ed:g:2M4AAOSwS7hhA1gR), and we've invested hundreds in tuning up the bike, esp the shocks and brakes, over the years. So along with the unique combo of custom add-ins, we thought to start there.
We're happy to lower the price substantially for a best offer, and it seems like we just need to find a buyer who's a good fit who's already very interested in vintage Schwinn Homegrowns as a collector's piece. We'll keep posting elsewhere, happy to hear honest feedback.

That's known as maintenance, not investment.

Take it off here and whack it on retrobike, they're a friendly bunch.

Sorry, but you're wrong. Your 'comparable price estimates' are the ORIGINAL MSRP's from the late 1990s.
People have been nice about it but you are dreaming. This is worth nowhere near what you think it is. Look at the link that I listed on eBay.com.
Nobody in the UK gives it a shit about Schwinn. It's glory days are in the distant past and people in the U.S. are the only ones who really collect Schwinn's and even then, this isn't as desirable as you think it is.
As per LFGSS rules, if you post it elsewhere, you cannot have it posted here.

So we are paying 2x for every time you changed a tube or changed the brake pads because you were ‘investing’ on a ‘collector’s piece’. I think more likely you have an old mountain bike and got a bit excited watching Antiques Roadshow

so it wasn't a typo

Fair enough if you found a collector with that kind of money to spend but 3k on a full sus bike from the mid 90's sounds like such a joyless purchase to me!

We would like to buy this. We are interested in buying as an investment opportunity as we believe this will only increase in value overtime. Could we come to some sort of arrangement where we buy it say in monthly installments and we draw up a contract where we would split the resulting hundreds of pounds profit mutually? Please reply asap we are very interested.

“Collectors” like minty things… this bike is far from mint.
Moreover, whilst vintage hard tail frames can command high sums.. vintage full suspension bikes are about as well regarded as vintage sandwiches.
The brakes and levers are the rarest bits and would likely net you £200. The chainset is probably the sugino version but even then, you’d likely see £100. The wheels would also likely net you £150 best case. The rest is too tarnished to be of any real value. Full bikes are worth LESS than the sum of their parts.. so spilt this and maybe make £500 tops. Sell as complete and expect £350-450

This thread is now way funnier than those Harry Enfield "Saw you coming" sketches.
We are selling our 1995 Schwinn Homegrown bike with lots of funky parts. It has recently been serviced and is in top condition!
We are not entirely sure about the exact make of each of the parts (as we didn't get a list from the previous owner and some of the parts are really quite old), but here are rough specifications:
Frame: Red & black 1995 Homegrown Suspension (cross between XT and USA version)
Forks: A later version of Judy SL (maybe 1997)
Brakes: AVID tri-align Cantilever Brake Set
Crankset and hubs: White Insutries
Rear derailleur: Shimano XTR
Price: We were thinking about £3000 but are happy to hear your best offers or any other feedback on the price!
Location: This bike is for pickup in London (NW8, Primrose Hill).
