Embrace it - I started in my 30s and have saved thousands of dollars over the decades by getting an electric trimmer and cutting whatever is left on my own.

I'd been thinking 'oh it's not that bad, I quite like a St George's cross flag of a neighbourhood' at some of the recent posts, then I saw this today. Instant hate. It seems I've just managed to avoid much exposure to it. Next week the cheap plastic 'patriotic bunting' is going to be unavoidable.

Getting gravy or sauce on the handles of your cutlery.
Usually the result of eating with a knife and fork with a plate balanced on my lap because eating outdoors with inadequate provision is what people do when the temp rises above 15°c

Brexit. For the fourth time.
Austria have made it illegal for third country nationals to telework from Austria, even for a single day. You can't even apply for a work permit.
Apparently they introduced this rule out of concerns of Brits working from their holiday homes and not paying tax. If we were still in the Eu, we'd be allowed to telework as much as we liked under the usual freedom of movement constraints and local tax laws.
On the plus side, this has finally convinced me to put my citizenship application in.

Interesting. Do you have a link?

Interesting. Do you have a link?
This is the only link that sets it out accurately and it is paywalled. Try internet archive.

Clearly and widely communicated it is not!

Also, I hear there's a paywall

I don't think the article is particularly clear https://archive.ph/jxTOL
I suspect, from the tone, it is talking about those who are self-employed, not a bit of remote working whilst on holiday.

Which is probably the case in the UK too.
from https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor/visit-on-business
You cannot do paid or unpaid work ... as a self-employed person as a visitor.
It's my understanding that it is fine to travel[1] for business to go to meetings but you aren't supposed to sit down in your hotel and do other work tasks unrelated to that trip in your hotel in the evening. Of course it's very unlikely you will be caught, just as a self-employed person can sit in Starbucks while on holiday and send a few messages to clients.

That article is not my main source, the Austrian embassy is. Under freedom of movement you are perfectly permitted to do a bit of work on holiday. As a third nation citizen, you are not permitted to perform any work at all while on a tourist visa. Even remotely for a UK company.
At this point in time its only possible to get a work permit to work for an Austrian company so you can't even apply for permission to work remotely while in Austria.
As jellybaby says, its actually the same in the UK for EU citizens.
Edit: Just to add some more weight to it, Mrs Hedge's company (a very large multinational) have consulted their lawyers and they have confirmed that it is impossible for a UK citizen to work remotely from Austria legally at this time.

Interesting, cheers. I remember looking into this a bit for the US (pre-COVID I had lots of work trips there) and we were OK so long as we were employed by a UK company. Not quite sure how that would impact on our ability to do audits in Europe and possibly deal with other stuff whilst out there.

The ellipsis miss quite a crucial part of that quote that totally change the meaing.
You cannot do paid or unpaid work for a UK company or as a self-employed person as a visitor.

I think that in most countries in EU there are no issues with travelling to do actual business in the destination country. So if you're there to audit your company operations in an EU country or audit a supplier, you would probably be fine. I think fact finding missions and meetings are fine too.
I think that its only a handful of European nations that are limiting teleworking at the moment. It might even just be Austria (plus UK and Swiss). Not sure.

I'm not really sure what the meaning is. It could be either way. I think you would need to dig out the legislation and maybe even court judgements to be sure.
I don't think it reads as "you can't do work for a UK company as a self-employed person as a visitor" but IANAL.

In the UK audit work is explicitly allowed as a standard visitor.

Probably more of a mild gripe than hate - but news headlines that are formatted along the lines of:
*'Named person explicitly did this ...court hears'* or
*'This thing is definitely happening ...subjective source says'* -

Stupid combo hand washer dryer thingies in public loos. Soap goes on and is immediately washed off by the water. When the water stops the dryer starts but you have just shaken off the excess water and the air blast dislodges another stream of droplets to make your hands wet again. So you take your hand out the dryer to shake that off (cos you know the air duration isn’t long enough to dry your hands) but as soon as they are removed the air stops. Any attempt to restart the air actually restarts the soap/wash cycle again.
If you’ve ever had the misfortune to have to look through royalty free music libraries for stuff…. absolutely teeming with the above
