Same here, ironicaly I was wearing a pair of Bose Sleepbuds set to "distant thunder" last night.

storm was so bad here that after i'd got in bed I lay listening to it for a couple of minutes with no other background noise I quickly got back up and went and unplugged all the electronics in the house as it was just flash-thunder-flash-thunder-flash-thunder nonstop so right on top of us.

Where we live is lovely and quiet now so I thought I wouldn't want anything like them (if I wanted distant thunder in our old flat I just took my earplugs out and listened to the upstairs neighbours) but I have come to accept that I have a brain that finds it difficult to relax and focuses on the tiniest of noises...
