I rode a road bike for the first time in a few years today. Jiggly.

Time for a slack road bike

I did think "this could do with being longer" as well as "it's quite fast" and "why is this taxi trying to push me off the road?"

It’s more that museum piece Klein I want. Would settle for a Serotta though.

probably the highlight of my day, good chuckle. Thank you!

Got round to installing the Smashpot last night, so far I'm impressed. Echoing what @TotalShanner said, it actually doesn't feel too dissimilar to a B1 airspring (based on a quick spin round the garden, nothing in anger yet) off the top, but the support once you hit the midstroke is brilliant. It feels supportive yet plush, love it.
What's really impressed me is the hydraulic bottom out. I managed to bottom the fork out just bouncing on it, only evidenced by the indicator ring, so added one click at time of HBO and you can actually see it working. Each click makes the sag indicator stop a little bit lower down the stanchion than before. No fuss, no noise, just works.
Can't wait to give it a proper ride soon -

I had the exact same experience. When I done the obligatory ride up and down the garden, I was a bit worried that I'd picked the wrong spring, I could bottom out the fork just by bouncing on it. I dialled the HBO to about half way and it ramped up nicely.

I really hope you don't keep all your bikes in your garage? Hope they are well insured if so.
-
• #23737
No, well - not at the moment. Project "Garages" includes some significant security measures, all of which will be put in place before bikes are put in there.
The door in the picture is going in the bin, for example.

The place supplying the new doors will take the old ones away with them, then leave them on Layhams with the traditional large CRT TV, fridge and appallingly stained mattress.

I would happily vote for flytippers to be sent to Ukraine to fight Russia.
-
• #23741
Bit off-topic but I've noticed the Gammon are rooting for Ukraine - which feels very dissonant.
You're team Putin, stop being plastics and be consistent!
I suspect it's because Ukraine appear to be winning whilst the Red Army appears to be a corrupt mess capable only of slaughtering unarmed civilians, often from significant range. But still - you've picked your side, stick with it.

I'm going to pick this up on the way to/from Bike Park Wales on the 13th of May. Might even try to ride it.

Where from? It’s actually in a museum?
Don’t ride it, you might devalue it.

It's been in a bike cafe/workshop place in Bristol for ages now.
It's a piece of history, and very relevant to my interests - still think that this is the bike I'm happiest with, in terms of how it came together:

Just out of curiosity, what do you mean?
It's cool that it has actually been out on display somewhere. My museums jokes weren't far off.
My friend owned a cafe in Glasgow, his mate had this incredible period correct Ciocc bike that was just too nice to ride. So it got hung up on the wall in cafe for years. -

I'm really disappointed to hear you are not going against forum advice and building your own garage doors
-
• #23749
I may still do so, I’m in vague discussions to buy another garage- but security trumps all else for the current two.
