Yeah maybe, a lot of changes since then and I now have very few logistical issues tbh, the odd thing for sure but in the last 2 years of chaos it’s not been bad

One of the guys from work is on the look out for a P type stem. A real actual Brompton one rather than an AliExpress special. Anyone got one going or know where to source one?

Just wondering if there is any consensus on here about the quality/value of the various random Aliexpress Brompton parts vs the much more expensive parts sold/marketed in the UK such as Ti Parts Workshop or Brompfication? Anyone have any real evidence of the cheapo parts failing?

Litepro hanflebars and chainrings are the only things I vouch for, everything else I have seen in hand is trash

OK - thanks. I bought a Ti Parts carbon rail saddle clamp from a UK supplier and the same seatpost from Aliexpress as a bit earlier in the thread: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32846729024.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.21ef1802jhQD0r
Was going to get a titanium front fork hook: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002975392481.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.56723c007aYVh3&mp=1
And brake cable deflector thing after removing my mudguards:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000348273210.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.56723c007aYVh3&mp=1Thought I couldn't go too far wrong with those two little bits!

Wouldn’t trust the seatpost unless you weigh 25kg, the rest will be fine
-
• #10934
Ha ha - I weigh 75kg so a bit off your limit but it do not ride it much or very far. I guess the worst that can happen is a completely catastrophic failure, so there is that.

I forget, who is Thorn here? I have a very old brompton that probably needs a rear hinge, seatpost sleeve etc and trying to work the difference between refurbing and getting a new one :-)

You’ll save a few more grams when the seatpost snaps and takes your genitals off in the crash.
There’s a reason the stock post is made from steel.

Probably something to do with cost as well!

Genuinely interested to know if anyone has first hand experience of one of the Aliexpress ti posts failing. Can't see anything about it online (albeit with a pretty cursory search) and usually that sort of thing is massively over represented online if it happens.
-
• #10942
I've run a generic/unbranded Ti post for a while without issues except for it slipping a bit.

• #10943
Very long shot, but anyone has a 3D printer and scanner for produce a Brompton selves?
-
• #10944
No reply yet chap!
Ps. I’m no longer thorn / sjs.

Well yes, but you get my drift!

Thanks, this is for my Chinese copy Brompton for my gf. We are been trying to sort this out for weeks as the tubing of the seat tube is out of tolerance and need an alternative solution.
