Nice. Felt like I needed to get out and move a bit - basically just stuck to zone 3 for an hour. Just over 12km at around 5:08/km. Everything feels good.

Half on Sunday is cancelled :/
Should I just run my own half round Hackney Marshes? Wanna come @Well_is_it?

FFS! I’ve been tapering and loading up on biscuits and bread/cheese all day 😂. Fair enough, park probably has bigger problems right now and hopefully will reschedule soon.
Might just keep it local but thank you anyway - will be nice to say hi at the re-arranged race.

Laps of Timber Lodge in QEOP might be quicker. HM parkrun is cancelled tomorrow due to fallen trees.
I'm doing 13 m or so on Sunday, probably not as quick as you, 7.30 pace or so, but I'm only around the corner. Not sure what time I'll be doing it, send me a pm if you fancy it

Might cycle down to the HM path later and check it’s clear. I’ll probably design a route that makes the most of any tale wind.

Marshes, Elizabeth park and a bit of the canal for a nice flat ish HM. Not sure about the wind mind.

Straight up the Lea is good also. I’ll probably just do the usual run up to Walthamstow and do a few laps.

Lets book one in for later in the year?
Full LFGSS.CC team entered? -

Nah man, I’m off the running after this, back to trainerroad. Come do some HCs in autumn!
-
• #27263
I'll trade you some road bike TTs for some HCs... Will have to see how life pans out, but for the most part- my life is gonna be hour runs/rides for a while now.
-
• #27264
I’m down. I like a road bike TT.
Hour as in that’s what you’ve got time for in one go? Perfect for running and / or turbo though. That’s always the extent of my training too. I guess easy weekend rides, but they can be subbed for sweet spot on the turbo.

• #27265
Pretty much, yep. No weekend long ones. The challenge will be getting to the race and back predominantly.

Xc in 1hr. Grim.

How’d it go?
-
• #27268
Appalling weather for Essex XC earlier today but great fun nonetheless.
15mm spikes and was struggling to remain upright a few times and I think the high winds helped 😁 -
• #27269
The sun came out and there was a huge puddle near the end of the lap so I cleaned my trainers just before the finish. Not a bad result.
Clubs 2nd claimer from Kent AC won the overall.

Another 27k ticked off this morning, thankfully a bit slower than marathon pace this week, have another 8k scheduled for this evening, then it’s taper week for Wokingham half!
Not sure what mindset I’m in for Wokingham, I’m not in pb shape (1:23), but I’m in better shape than my marathon target half marathon effort would be (1:30) a couple of mates are going for pbs around the 1:26s which feels like it would be a big push but it’d be good to go out and have a bit of friendly competition…

Headed out around 7am this morning, with some dates in my pocket to see how far I could go.
Managed to squeeze out a full marathon.
About 12k in, I got the sudden call of nature and managed to nip into a petrol station toilet. Good thing the race was cancelled coz if I was giving it race-pace, that would have just made its way out in the middle of Victoria Park.
Felt fine so carried on. Ate a date every 10k but didn’t have any water other than the glass I had in the morning.
Started to really feel it about 35k in as my legs just felt different in a bad way - think that was dehydration tbh.Anyway, feels like it’s not a wasted day/training block now at least.
Also, just didn’t feel like I would have been able to maintain 4:08 for 21k anyway, so leant into volume.

Impressive

Wow. That’s very impressive. I did my longest run ever, didn’t really plan the route so had to walk back from the far side of the marshes after 21km. I can’t get out of a chair now. That’s it, hanging the shoes up until next year.

I’d hope so, not the best conditions either! TBH it looks like I either just made it or was only a few seconds over after cropping the run. I’m taking it anyway.
Thanks to @SideshowBob for the negative split suggestion, would never have thought of that myself, think it worked out well, apart from the last 7km aiming for 4:10/km feeling like death.

Safe to do an easy 10k tonight ahead of the HM on Sunday? Haven’t run yet this week, only ridden the 45 mile round trip to work once and done some kettlebells.
