this thread very quiet. hope that is a good sign.
no real news but happy to get boosted at the weekend. was meant to be in December but got Covid so waited a while. Pfizer in an arm that was a little sore for a while. but all good and happy to be triple jabbed and as ready for the next variant as I can be.

Not much news bar son is back at school. He had one jab it did get him with coughing, fever etc. It wasn't asymptomatic.
Glad to see him again he was stuck at the exes.
Now for our turn...we've narrowly avoided it twice by now.

Think I've developed tinnitus since getting boosted. Or maybe it's always been there.
-
• #26456
There was a report about tinnitus on the 5Live breakfast show this morning and a couple of people said the same as you, you can replay the show on the BBC sounds app if you’re interested.
My wife’s had high blood pressure since her booster, the docs say they’ve had quite a few similar reports, other cases seem to have calmed down on their own accord after a about three months, fingers crossed.

It's all complete coincidence, as are the multiple media articles normalising all of the daily tasks that increase the chance of Heart attacks.
It might just be my algorithms but there also seems to finally be an increase in coverage on the benefits of Vit D. 2 years too late!

Disclaimer - the following might sound odd.
A few times during the pandemic I have noticed a slightly odd sensation in my mouth - a bit like a metallic taste but milder. My wife tested positive on Monday, and I have this thing again yesterday. I haven't tested positive. Could it be part of an immune response to the virus?

I have started to notice tinitus in my left ear when waking up in the morning. It started after reading all those reports.

Posted a while back that my tinnitus has gone into overdrive. Always had it but now it’s super noticeable, no idea if it’s vaccine related and seems a small price to pay if it is

Vit D
Isn't it well documented the vitamin D is one component that can help promote a stronger immune system? I'm not sure it's the wonder drug covid cure super shield some people would have you believe but it is one slice in the "swiss cheese" defence.
-
• #26462
Yeah, I don't think anyone has ever said vitamin d is bad or played down the fact it's good for you and lacking in some people who live at higher latitudes, but it's not some covid wonder drug.

This may shock you but removing requirement to self isolate is definitely not going to speed up waiting list reductions.

How long does post-covid fatigue last for most people (assuming no long-covid in play)? I'm ready for bed at 8:30pm and the idea of riding a bike is just beyond me at the moment.
-
• #26466
I dont know how long covid is determined here, seem to be symptoms that last longer than 6 weeks or similar. Is there an accepted range of symptoms or time to be defined as long covid?
I was exhausted for 6 weeks and then 2 weeks with fatigue but not to bad and then well. I think that range can be all over the map and may or may not be defined as long covid even if u get well after 2 months or whatever.

7 months or so and worsening for my wife, but hopefully she's an outlier.

metallic taste probably indicator of heavy metal poisoning - polonium etc
should probably keep an eye on that -
• #26469
Or antibiotics, you full of bacteria?
-
• #26470
Metallic taste in the mouth can also be bleeding gums = gingivitis or more advanced gum disease.
Plenty of food related causes:-
Pine nuts can also induce a metallic taste in some: https://www.sciencefocus.com/science/what-causes-pine-mouth/
And then there were the batches of chickpeas that caused hummous to taste metallic a few years ago: https://www.theweek.co.uk/84000/hummus-crisis-why-are-supermarkets-removing-the-dip

Thanks, it isn't polonium poisoning or gum disease.
-
• #26472
Or it could be another, non-covid, virus. Plenty of them can cause it, and it's a pretty common symptom.
-
• #26473
It is very subtle and has gone now. My hypothesis is that is somehow connected to immune response to COVID exposure. I'm still testing negative for now.
-
• #26474
Two years after saying it was all 'nothing to worry about' I now have tested positive.
Well, that's me told then

Mrs Hammer had similar when she had covid and again when she thought she had it recently.
20-ish. I'm too chicken to ask anyway.
