Still very much in awe...

Thanks, I've got 82 days left and still sitting 1 day ahead which gives me some time to rest if needed. I'm focusing now on finishing, before I was wanting to do bigger things but I can do this once I've completed this challenge. I did say previously about doing the festive 500 in one hit but it's far too close to the finish and I don't want to risk injury.
I'm finding myself on zwift more, which isn't ideal especially as i have temperamental internet. I do my commute and then eat/change and jump on the turbo in the evening, doing this 3rd ride of the day is tough.
I'm definitely looking forward to being a normal person again :)

I'm definitely looking forward to being a normal person again :)
God no, don't do that.

Normal is a vague terms, what I would like is more time to train efficiency.
@frank9755 I've definitely got ultras in my mind now and can't shake it.
@Stoo61 don't worry I just want to spend some more time at home (home gym incoming)
I need to plan what I want to do next year, in terms of events. Any suggestions? More road related as I won't have a full gravel bike.

Lots of stuff out there. TCR is the obvious one to aim for but unlikely to be many places this time. It's LEL next year if that appeals - applications open shortly.
When are you free, where do you want to go, what type of event do you like, etc?
Here's a list:

I think the TCR would be 2023 if I can get a place or have the funds. That list is great thank you.
I'm free in the summer really (June-late September) as spring will be busy with house stuff and I do need to treat the GF with a non cycling holiday at some point. She's done a lot for me this year so I need to treat her. I'd like to finish next year with doing Further East again as I can actually work on my strength etc, this does give me time to procure an off road bike too. I don't want to go abroad next year but I'd like to do something which is over 1000km and I've seen some of Tom Deakins' Audax events that I'm tempted to do for training/fun but then will do one/two larger events.
Pan Celtic race does interest me, more because I haven't been to Ireland and because I don't want to do LEJOG again which is similar to GBduro

Ah... jesus. I shouldn't have looked at that list. One event within a few hours drive of home.

Maybe have a look at All Points North too. Around 1000km. Think it opens to entrants soon.
I did Pan Celtic this year, was good fun.

who wants to ride bikes?
Good point, well made.

I rode 51 miles to Further East and regretted it once i discovered that a select few drove and left their car a mile down the road...

Sounds like a nice warmup. From where to where?
-
• #369
It would be rude not to add another 100km to that so you get 1000 miles :)

Luxembourg to near Frankfurt

I could. But probably wouldn't.

I didn't know you were in Proper Europe. They actually have proper trains there.

I think your first goal after finishing should be to have a week off and rest up completely. Use the time to think and plan what you really want to do; what you will really enjoy doing. But please rest. I am tired just watching your Strava.
-
• #374
Yes there's definitely a fair few Strava activities, I'm trying to add photos to my commutes to keep people entertained :) Only 80 days left now

I spent this afternoon putting these pdws on, quite pleased with them tbh. I've had a mixed week, i had a little slip on my commute on Tuesday which was annoying. Made me realise my caad 5 with 23mm tyres isn't sensible to ride through the winter so i set up the Isen for my commuting. I didn't ride at all on Thursday and it was my first day through this challenge that i thought what the Fxxk am i doing, this is stupid.
Anyway it's day 288
Total distance: 28,827km

I think if you have a rear bike light and a rear helmet light (as I do when out for night rides mostly gravel but linked by road of course) bright af, flashing away like mad and the driver doesn't see you. The driver wasn't looking.
So, being head to toe in reflective stuff wouldn't make a difference because they aren't paying attention. Thats my opinion anyway but nothing wrong with belt n braces.
I'm resigned to one day getting hit just hoping it wont be too bad.
No long now lad! The year, as ever, is flying past it will be Hogmanay before you know it.
