  • This whole thing smacks of ‘we’ve fucked up massively in Kabul and we need a sideshow to distract everyone’ but who really knows these days.

Hmm. Is the current government populated by below-par humanoids with poor judgement who regularly embarrass themselves because that's their sad nature, or are they cunning lizard people who voluntarily embarrass themselves to manipulate our perception (to hide the disasters they create because they're incompetent - um, wait, whut?)

    Flat Earth thread >>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • But we got the dogs out!

    And cars too.

  • below-par lizard people with poor judgement who regularly embarrass themselves because that's their sad nature

I doubt Earth and Humanity are at the top of the Most Dezireable Planetz to Rule list, so in all likelihood our alien overlords aren’t the slipperiest snakes in the space quadrant.

  • What’s the betting this Farthing character spins a long running media career out of all this?

I bet he’s an insufferable cunt.

  • I’m gonna sound like a cunt, but the Afghan people (especially the egibled one) should always come first over dogs, and cars I guess.

  • I entirely agree.

  • His "no-one gets left behind" spirit that U-turned to "everyone gets left behind" once he was in the airport makes him ministerial material

  • So, I'm aware of this Farthing guy, but haven't really seen anything on why it was so important that the dogs got out? I've seen no indication that the Taliban were planning to kill all the dogs, or that an animal charity was at any risk of being unable to continue to function.

When I was in Afghanistan, there were loads of dogs. Working dogs, rather than pets, but seemed to be better cared for than in many other countries I've been to. Didn't seem to be the most anti-canine of countries.

  • Won't surprise those who know something of her that Lionel Shriver has used the Afghanistan crisis as a trigger for going full white supremacist in the Spectator.

  • As somebody from a generation of an English family who have married partners of Palestinian, Indian, Japanese and Swedish descent, have had kids who are English and carry UK passports, what's his fucking point?! I fail to think of one single reason why white British lineage is somehow worth protecting, other than individuals having the right to choose who they want to marry and have kids with.

Maybe, just maybe, an England that is uniformly white belongs in the past. The very distant past.

  • what's his

    Her.

  • We need to talk about Lionel.

  • an England that is uniformly white belongs in the past.

In myth. She goes on to rant about the instinctive genetic purity of tribes, which isn't actually how most tribes historically acted. Intermarriage, travel and trade are older than written history, with "tribal identity" is a more complicated and transient thing than the way it appears in the fantasies of white nationalists.

  • Over the weekend someone was briefing the press that they'd get the alpaca treatment if they weren't in tip top health so staying in situ might have been better after all

  • In parts of London, 80 per cent of births are to foreign--born mothers

They didn't try hard enough. In small enough parts of London, 100 per cent of births are to foreign--born mothers.

  • I know nothing about this in the context of the UK but based on books I've read about intermarriage and trade in high alpine tribes , this does indeed sound like utter nonsense.

  • I was about to bring this up. He’ll start throwing his weight around again and acting like a big posh baby.

Unfortunately he will always get air time because producers on BBC Breakfast and GMB love him - he is a way for them to cover Afghanistan in a light way that their idiot viewers can understand.

  • With a bit of luck he'll get the Milkshake Duck treatment when they find the dogs have all had packets of heroin surgically implanted cartel style.

  • In small enough parts of London

    Ha!

  • As ever, she's late to the party. Leicester became the first city with a minority white population shortly after the 2011 census - somewhat before the 2060s - and, I'm proud to say, this wasn't met with "mournfulness" and "consternation", but celebration and pride. Maybe she needs to get out of Bermondsey.

  • At the same time the people are being exploited by the sweatshop factories there, which is horrdenous.

  • Maybe she needs to get out of Bermondsey.

She needs to get in the fucking sea. Horrible woman.

  • Some people are, and of course it's horrendous.

My point was about what ordinary people think about their city becoming majority "non-white".

  • We've been thinking about leaving London, or more specifically moving to a rural area, for a few years now. One of the main reasons why we are still here is because we are so uncertain about how much we'd enjoy living in a homogeneous white community.

Ha ha, not suggesting that we are "normal people" though.
