He’s a total arsehole.

The volatility is confidence rather than platform related. With his reputation he creates confidence to reduce risk.

Double post sorry.

Musk related and slightly weird

The Black Valley is lovely, nice cycling there but an odd choice.

Since he's trying to show value in his orbital pollution scheme by bringing access to remote areas, it seems a reasonable choice. Also plays well politically in the U.S.

Much as Musk is a cunt and Tesla are shit, it was kinda cool to see the chain of Starlink satellites passing overhead on Saturday while we were drunk around a campfire on the edge of Bodmin. Especially as it was such a clear night and we hadn't a clue what they were.

Surely we can do better than Elon Musk
Are Tesla’s cars actually bad, their deficiencies carefully covered up and their quality over-hyped? Is Elon Musk actually not a liar, huckster, or moron? If you look more closely, are things that look like fraud and stupidity to me actually signs of brilliance? Or is there a way for both facts to be true?
It turns out it’s all true. The cars are impressive and their flaws get covered up. Musk is a lying ignorant grifter and he has inspired innovation in the electric car industry.
But then we have Elon Musk himself, who is constantly saying incredibly dumb things. Every time I hear him talk I am impressed by how unimpressed I am.

Great article.

I stopped reading after this sentence:
So can I, and, if we’re being truly honest, so can, say, the Queen.
Anyone who throws that many commas around cannot be trusted as a good judge of anything.

So you missed this gem:
But I hear he treats his employees badly
People know they’re going to be working with Elon Musk, so they can’t play woe is me if he goes Elon on them.
I made the mistake of reading Microserfs, so I'm not surprised by this take, but it's still infuriating. People not born with Musks's privileges typically don't have the luxury of turning jobs down because the boss is a bastard. Besides which, Musk took over the company in a boardroom coup, he didn't found it. So plenty of the people he's abused didn't choose him at all. That pudgy man-baby often goes to work looking for somebody, anybody to fire, just to show he's the boss. But that's OK, Coupland has his back.
But he hurt my feelings and made me feel like I was in an unsafe and triggering work environment
Dear God, is this what our society has been reduced to?
You'd already identified yourself as a cunt, Coupland, no need to go on about it.
At least I only wasted a few minutes of my life on this. Wish I could get the time back for Microserfs.

I’ve once accidentally read a book by Coupland because I confused it for a book I’d read a positive review about (Worst Person Ever). Hated every single page of it, if you’re capable of writing that you can’t be anything less than a grade A cunt.

Fairly shit article. The one it's based on is slightly better - https://www.propublica.org/article/the-secret-irs-files-trove-of-never-before-seen-records-reveal-how-the-wealthiest-avoid-income-tax
I think taking shares instead of income should have some level of taxation. (If it doesn't already)
I don't agree with taxing unrealised gains, until it's cashed out there is a risk element that needs to be rewarded.
-
• #291
taking out gigantic, tax free loans secured against unrealised gains is the billionaire 101 problem here.
none of these fuckers should exist, the fact that they do is evidence of an utter failure of policy.
-
• #292
Elon Musk is a fully grown-up adult human, lest we forget.
-
• #293
Sold out in minutes. All these fucking idiots simping for their billionaire overlord. Fucking people.

I guess people think it will be a collectors item soon:/

I thought this might be here. Pretty shockingly foreseeable, hopefully won’t ever result in a tragedy.

Fucking hell. People actually believe that this guy is intelligent.

Brand new test-driven car delivered without brake pads:
Looks like he's used shit loads of tesla cash reserves to buy bitcoin massively ramping up price. Also said tesla will soon accept payment in bitcoin too at some point.
Considering how volitile it is very risky move.
