Haven't been able to follow the vuelta, but what is going on with Pidcock? Is he just using it as building block for the worlds?
-
• #36503
shadowing Remco with aim to just finish a grand tour to gain experience I think?

He'd not ridden a road race since the end of June, as he was totally focused on the Olympic MTB race. He said before the race that people told him he should enjoy the Olympic gold medal, which he had, so he'd come into the race below his best form and was hoping to ride into it.
Which he looks like he has, after his showing yesterday.

I don't really have any expectations of Pidcock as a GC rider, but he seems to have been very quiet on all stages.
Edit - hadn't actually seen the results from yesterday. I really haven't been following.

Someone on Twitter was moaning about "why Are Tom wasn't at the MTB worldies aren't Ineos bastards" and he replied basically saying this.

• #36507
It's the Ineos way!

Apparently last minute sponsorship deals with shady crypto startups might come with risks attached

Who saw that coming?!
Narrator: Everyone.

Looks like nothing, but I guess he had the bike laid over quite a bit.

@Stonehedge what have you done to are Qhubeka? What's the low down?

I assume that they have discovered that our suspicions about the legitimacy of their new sponsor were well founded.
Its sad. I was hoping that we were wrong.
“We have experienced an unexpected delay with partner payments and are currently awaiting the arrival of sponsorship money to reflect in our Dutch bank account to pay August salaries,” the email said.
“As soon as the sponsorship money reflects; payments will be made. On behalf of the management team, I apologize for this unexpected delay.”

Anyone watch the German Tour? No, ok.
What about Benelux? Remco's wheel change was hilarious. What happened to Sagan? He looked proper angry - did he crash himself out?

Anyone watch the German Tour? No, ok.
I did check the results every day, hoping for a Greipel win. I hope he's making a lot of money at ISR because it's a sad sight.

Sagan crashed in an echelon which is very not Peter Sagan.

• #36520
Isn't he retiring at the end of the year?

Maybe some action on the Vuelta today. Has been pretty dull so far (though admittedly I've missed a few weekend stages).
-
• #36522
I feel that you could say that about half of that team. Soulless.
-
• #36523
though admittedly I've missed a few weekend stages
You haven't, really.

• #36524
Today and tomorrow will decide the GC, but it's been a turd of a race so far.

That's what I thought. I reckon they've tried a bit too hard to make the parcours clever, expecting echelons etc, none of which have happened. Riders seem to have accepted that it'll drag on until Roglic attacks and wins today.
That was quite a bizarre incident, fantastic recovery though.
