Are you selling for the van?
-
• #66379
Yes, can’t afford to keep this and buy the van.

Insurance is ~£500/year fully comp, parked outside in SE23.

Sad that I'm not in any realistic position to grab this. Would be nice to be able to rumble back at the neighbour's sl63 in the mornings.

if I wasn't locked into the leased Cupra for another 12 months I'd seriously consider the E63! Would be mildly ruinous, but really want to scratch that V8 itch whilst I still can...

Just reduced my C180 to 10% the price of this! Seems about right.

Xtype jag?

• #66385
So am looking to buy and estate....so should I buy an x type jag saloon?

Havn’t driven it more than a couple of meters to park it inside and it was very scary just crawling along. It is so tiny! And I used to drive Minis… The motor is down tuned in the software because 80kW is a bit much kn a car that had 18kW on a good day. And the owners 18 yo son will drive it from time to time. I’d program two settings if it was mine. One for day to day driving and one for the Max Car readers who allways pull up next to you at the lights because classics are slow 🙄

I actually quite like some of those, and I think you can get something fairly punchy for decent money.
I grew up down the road from the Jag factory though, and it was everyone's dad who had one. I'm not sure how I'd feel about having one too...

Hailwood?
It is £500 and got MOT till october....

Nearish Solihull. Kids at school used to weirdly take Jags corporate progress as some kind of personality trait.
Thanks - I think I want a Mondeo. Not something I thought I'd catch myself saying in my youth....

Had a MK3 diesel estate, not a bad car. Had it's issues. what killed it in the end was the DMF failing.

ST 220 Estate? They have quite the cult following, an unmolested one under 100k miles is becoming a bit of a unicorn and will no doubt command strong money.
Octavia vRS? Might be a sideways move from Focus ST though.

Yeah - I've not seen anything really at less than 100k for months. This had me questioning whether it had to be the estate a few weeks back:

I think I'll just sit and watch out for a few months - eventually they'll be something on at 60k miles. In the south east. In blue....
-
• #66393
Oof, that's clean! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I had ratty ST170 a while back, wasn't without fault but I loved that car... it was blue.

108k or 6 years AFAIK so you should be good for 2 or more.
Ran mine 92K to 137k before trading it in. Cost me tyres between those and a jubilee clip (blew off intercooler hose on trip home from collection, doh.) D5 or nothing. If you're looking 2010 onwards there's a very healthy 200+bhp and v.torque, hence front tyres are 10-15k max if heavy footed.
Get a VIDA dice for £75 off eBay and enjoy Volvo main dealer diagnostics at home. Very easy to work on - and VIDA supplies step by step workshop manual and electrical diagrams. Parts on second hand market are well priced. Ripped my drivers seat base... bought a new base attached to a whole electric seat (lol) for £30. Bargain.
Business editions are good if you want a manual too...

Really? This interests me. Spent quite a bit more that £75 recently at the indy Volvo garage for them to tell me my xc90 probably just has a faulty turbo sensor and I don't need to worry about it.
I have effectively zero experience of working on cars but I like the idea of being able to do more on the car my self.
How idiot proof is the ebay VIDA dice?

Keep an eye on the mondeo pages on facebook and the mondeo forums. They do pop up but people aren't selling cars at the mo.
-
• #66397
Oh I have a mondeo sorry x type jag.
Everything works, all the electric seats and the leather isn't worn. 100k and runs well.

Anyone know somewhere in the southeast where i can get a bosch vp mechanical pump serviced?
-

Joe Macari back car park had two Maybach's (!) that made this Porsche look tiny, and a wee Fiat that made another Porsche look huge. Wish they had parked the Fiat next to the Maybach. Probably about the length of one of the doors

So have the jag back at the manor, and taken it for a spin with 'er indoors and I've broken it.
Oil cooler thermostat has failed so the car doesn't get warm. So will over fuel.
So looks like the car will be serviced.
This seems to be the vibe with all Merc dealers. Kind of missing being a bmw owner... Apart from the "everything breaking all the time" bits
