  • Only @cagimaha can answer

  • I realise I say this as someone also 90kg but with some aliexpress carbon wheels but I'm gonna say if you're not sure that they'll be ok then get some alloy rims...

  • Yeah probably going to play it safe and boring.

Built some wheels that will eventually go on my commuter to get me riding again.

Bargain Ambrosio p20s on Miche hubs. Come in around 1780g so not awful for what should be a pretty strong build.

  • Done.

  • Looks sweeet. Any update on the standert?

  • Cheers man! Felt good on a quick test ride. Not really, they asked for photos and some info and have been pretty quick to respond so far (quicker than me - busy week).

  • A black bearing cover would top it off but I'm being picky

  • BIG fan of the chest of drawers too!

  • Yeah not sure what they were thinking there. Might get a zero stack tester one if I like the bike.

  • very cool ! white saddle and white tape

  • Quite like my new mamil chariot

  • looks good and too clued-up for a chariot ! nice period vibes with the 6870 di2

  • Such good bikes, massively regret selling mine

  • less chariot and more HHSRB than the standert it replaces imo, very nice bike

  • In the big blade for the pic at the top 😉

  • Standert were great about the warranty - paid for me to return it and processed a refund within a few days of getting the frame back. Could have had a replacement in the autumn but my work has expanded its cycle to work scheme so I'm getting a Fairlight Faran for winter, gravel and touring, and keeping the Madone.

  • Good outcome, as awesome as the bike was

  • Great to hear they’ve looked after you properly

  • Did a little MTB overnighter in Dorset a week or so ago, on the bikepacking.com Purbeck bimble route. It was great to get back on the Bootzipper. Wish I had found time to fit the bigger, knobblier, tubeless tyres I bought as I was struggling for grip (or skill) on some of the wet and rooty climbs. Handlebars are Alpkit Confucius (flat with front extension), which don't get as much love as the Jones style swept ones but I think are perfect for this sort of riding with a bit of every surface.

  • Love that route. Did it on a cross bike and yeah, felt massively underbiked for a lot of those climbs. Stunning route though!

  • Yeah it was great, although it hit a few footpaths in the last 20km which was a bit frustrating. Brave doing it on a cross bike! I stopped for the night at Tom's Field in Langton Matravers - stayed in the walkers' barn and was the only one in there.

  • fucking amazing this

  • In my defence, this was the tail end of a trip from the top of Hampshire down through the New Forest, which was all very "gravel"-oriented. It was not the right bike for Purbeck though, I walked most climbs and cursed my lack of gear range/squishy tyres. I stayed at Burnbake, nothing special but the scenery onto the bay was stunning.

  • The other half of my standert replacement arrived a couple of weeks ago. Fairlight Faran with grx600 for winter and touring. Absolutely love it so far. Just back from a week in France where it was perfect for road and a bit of gravel. Really impressed with the ride, and especially the handling with panniers on the front, which they make a thing of. Nice and stable but still snappy enough to be fun when you're leaning it round another unnecessary French roundabout.
