Great pics. I particularly enjoyed this one.
Just been listening to James Knox on the Cyclist Podcast saying he reckons 60 riders would have dropped out and been at risk of exposure once they’d got detached from the race because of issues with using radios on days like that.

Sounds ‘epic’. Would go down as a legendary stage.

Speaking of which, I want to know what that Rapha jacket is because it doesn't look like anything they currently sell

First saw it at the Vuelta last year. Looks proper techy.
I don’t think it’s available to the public.

Top layer jacket is the insulated Gor Rex shake dry by the look of it. Not sure about the down type one.

Looks like a pro team insulated gore-tex jacket with sponsor logos

I think you're right actually, to me it didn't look like the one in the photo had a hood but it must be the angle

Wow. That passed me by. Looks amazing.

Gor Rex shake dry
Another explanation for their extinction.

Looks like he's got a hot water bottle shoved up his jersey though.

And we’d have seen very little of it.
Realised I forgot to add the pic to my post...

Was literally about to post that.
Thought about doing so myself. Definitely following the better safe than sorry rule for layering.

As Will mentioned up thread somewhere, the decision has been made to reroute Friday's stage to avoid the Mottarone after the tragic cable car incident at the weekend.
They'll go over a smaller climb instead:

Need to get yourself to a downhill (though admittedly the guidebars and chains are usually removed!)

Doesn’t yesterday prove that they could’ve broadcast even more of the finish line?

i am guessing everyone is watching horner daily?
There's a probably a stato can confirm. I imagine there are certain sets of conditions that contribute more. Wet being one. Windy another. Sprint finish higher risk. Descent more likely than on ascent (unless Moto parks up or fan is a nobber). Heat might be a factor too, it was a hot dry day when Beloki ended his career and put Lance through a field iirc.
